*STAND WITH AMASIRI: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!*
We, the members of Mba'Apostoli Multi Purpose Cooperative and our community as a mark of our long standing friendship with the people of Amasiri, stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of Amasiri, whose lives have been turned upside down by a land dispute that's been mishandled by those in power.
For too long, the people of Amasiri have been victimized, their rights trenched upon, and their dignity stripped. The crisis began when tenants, given land by the Amasiri community, now claim ownership, sparking a conflict that's left devastation in its wake.
As a community, we TIV people from Benue State, Nigeria, understand the pain and struggle that comes with land disputes. We're passing through a similar situation, and we know how it feels to be marginalized and oppressed.
But what makes this moment even more significant is the strong bond and relationship we share with the Amasiri community. Our cultures, traditions, and agrarian values unite us. At this critical juncture, the least we can do is stand with Amasiri.
We don't care who's right or wrong. What we care about is what's RIGHT. Who owns the land? Give it to them. But in doing so, let's not sacrifice the innocent. The stringent measures imposed on Amasiri are unacceptable:
- Schools shut down, students denied education
- Markets closed, businesses destroyed
- Soldiers occupy the land, dealing heavy blows
- Hospitals and maternity homes blocked, causing unnecessary deaths
We demand the governor relax these draconian measures, respect human rights, and approach this conflict with empathy and fairness.
Ignore the advice from misguided cabinet members and approach the situation with Solomon's wisdom.
Investigations must precede prosecution, and collective punishment must end.
*Amasiri deserves justice, not oppression.*
*It's time for peace, not pain.*
*Let's stand together for what's right!*
