It is a flagship event by the School of Communication at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. The theme for CommFest 2012 is “Social-Lympics”.The festival aims to expose students as well as the public, to the field of Communication through Social Media and Sports.

We will host exciting a range of activities adapted from popular social websites and social p
rogrammers such as instagram, facebook, twitter and foursquare. We are expecting an estimate of 3000 students to participate in this event. CommFest 2012 is jointly organized by proPassion Communications which is a student Public Relations consultancy by Semester 6 students, and Event Management team of Semester 4 students from the Diploma in Communication.
♦♦Who, What, Why, Where, When & How? à Significance & Objective♦♦
Youth nowadays are lack of participation in outdoor activities due to their addiction to social Media. Youngsters now spend an average of one hour and 50 minutes online and two hours 40minute in front of the television everyday. Social network has made the life of people more easy and interesting, its negative impact has created insecurity among them through outdoor activities. Cyber-Relationship Addiction to social
Networking, chat rooms, and messaging to the point where virtual, online friends become more important than real-life relationships with family and friends.
♦♦ACTIVITIES OF SOCIAL-LYMPICS♦♦
1.Insta Clock
This activity is open to everybody who possess the passport. There will be a insta mascot where anybody can take picture and upload on Instagram and at the same time we will print out the picture and paste it on the giant clock. Every one hour when we strike the clock, there will be a surprise happen in any of our event area. InstaRace
This activity is a group activity, which will be pre-registered. This activity will require participant to win mini challenges before going to their next point, this activity is somewhat similar to the “Amazing Race” but modified with social media. There will be six- check point for them to go through, and each mini challenge level of difficulty is different. So this activity is a teamwork, fun and exciting game to participate.
3. InstaMatch
Bringing a Mobile Phone games inspired by Instagram that triggers creativity and incorporated teamwork into real life.
4. InstaCaps
Posting various kinds of images with irrelevant captions (moody, happy, quotes) is a popular trend on Instagram but people actually didn’t realize that. This activity is to bring this issue into life so that audiences will get shock and have fun.
5. Facecomm
Using Facebook concept to promote interaction and communication as well as to induce a fun way of learning.

♦♦Where? The Spectacular Venue♦♦
CommFest 2012 will be staged at the Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus’ Level 2 outside The Grand Hall & Amphitheater. It is a shaded-outdoor location, spacious and enables us to accommodate a large crowd. There are FREE parking zones and many eateries within the campus vicinity.
