🎙️ Meet our speaker for MIDEC 2026: A/Prof. Dr. Benjamin T.K. Tan 🇸🇬

✨ About the speaker:

A/Prof. Dr. Benjamin T.K. Tan holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Singapore and advanced postgraduate qualifications from London, including a Master of Science and a Master of Clinical Dentistry with Distinction. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in Periodontics. He currently serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore, contributing to academic teaching and professional development in the field of periodontology.

Dr. Tan has held numerous leadership roles within professional organizations. He was President of the Society of Periodontology Singapore from 2006 to 2008 and later served as Chairperson of the Chapter of Periodontists under the College of Dental Surgeons Singapore from 2009 to 2013. He also contributed significantly to specialist accreditation, serving as Chairperson and member of the Singapore Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee in Periodontology between 2007 and 2017, and as a member of the Dental Specialist Accreditation Board of Singapore from 2018 to 2022. Additionally, he served as Honorary Advisor and Councillor of the Asian-Pacific Society of Periodontology from 2014 to 2017.

🎙️ Meet our speaker for MIDEC 2026: Dr. Tan Chuey Chuan 🇲🇾

✨ About the speaker:

Dr. Tan Chuey Chuan is a distinguished academic and clinician in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Clinical Sciences at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery (2009) from University of Science Malaysia and awarded the Master of Clinical Dentistry (OMFS) with distinction (2018).  A recognized expert in her field, her clinical and research focus on dental implantology, maxillofacial trauma and craniofacial deformity. Dr. Tan actively contributes to surgical education, research and professional associations. Her work is dedicated to improving surgical outcomes and patient care in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

🎙️ Meet our speaker for MIDEC 2026: Dr. Zubaidah Binti Zanul Abidin 🇲🇾

✨ About the speaker:

Dr. Zubaidah Binti Zanul Abidin is a senior dental lecturer and specialist prosthodontist at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya. She earned her DDS from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2007 and completed her specialist training in MClinDent (Restorative in Prosthetic Dentistry) at Universiti Malaya in 2014. She has extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and programme coordination, and currently serves as the coordinator for the Master of Oral Science programme (May 2024–May 2025).

Her clinical and research interests include prosthodontics, digital dentistry, dental biomaterials, artificial intelligence in dentistry, maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation, and oral health–related quality of life. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and is actively involved in conferences as a speaker, reviewer, and committee member. She also serves as a Council Member of the Malaysian Association for Prosthodontics and Deputy Coordinator for the Fellowship in Advanced Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, with multiple awards recognizing her excellence in teaching, research, and professional service.

✨ About the speaker:

Dr. Tengku Nurfarhana Nadirah Tengku Hamzah is a Paediatric Dentist, academic, and health-research-ethics scholar from Universiti Malaya. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (2011) and completed her postgraduate clinical training in Paediatric Dentistry (2017) at Universiti Malaya. She is a Fellow of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry and most recently graduated with Distinction from the Master of Health Research Ethics at Universiti Malaya, supported by the Fogarty International Center (NIH) in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University. Recognised for her work in community-based paediatric oral health, Dr Tengku focuses on strengthening oral health services for children, particularly in underserved communities. Her work spans minimally invasive dentistry, Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH), practice-based research, and translating research into practical, ethical, and equitable solutions for frontline teams.

🎙️ Meet our speaker for MIDEC 2026: Dr. Mah Eng Ching 🇲🇾

✨ About the speaker:

Dr Mah Eng Ching is a specialist Orthodontist with a special interest in complex and multidisciplinary orthodontic cases in both children and adults. He graduated from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and later obtained his MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He completed his specialist orthodontic training at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, and holds Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr Mah is a recipient of the 3M Clinical Prize for best clinical performance and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He currently serves as an MFDS Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

✨ About the speaker:

Dr Schzanne Choo is a Malaysian aesthetic dentist and ASEAN and international speaker, with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Malaya. She is the President of the Malaysian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry (MAAD) and Secretary-General of the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (AAAD). Dr Choo is also the founder of Asthetisch Academy and is based in clinical practice in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Her clinical interests focus on aesthetic suction denture, complete denture rehabilitation, restorative dentistry, and dental and facial aesthetics. Dr Choo is widely involved in dental education and is recognised for her expertise in aesthetic-driven treatment planning and predictable clinical outcomes, particularly in removable prosthodontics.
An active regional and international speaker, she regularly lectures and conducts hands-on workshops across Asia. Dr Choo also plays a key role in organising and curating international dental conferences and is committed to mentoring young dentists in aesthetic and prosthodontic disciplines.
