QO-100: Also works with a LORA board that makes CW

The news of HB9BLA's distance record using an ESP32 module has attracted attention. Now Ondrej OK1CDj has reported that it has already established 400 radio connections on CW with a LORA board via QO-100.

Ondrej OK1CDJ is working on several solutions for amateur radio. On Github it has published its solution of a CW transmitter for QO-100, which was implemented with a standard LORA module.

These already transmit in the QO-100 uplink range by default. Its complete solution is easy for an amateur radio operator and a manufacturer to implement.
The transmit power of 450 mW is enough to generate a solid signal in the transponder with a 60 cm satellite dish.

Fram2Ham SSTV Transmissions Planned

Astronaut and radio amateur, Rabea Rogge LB9NJ / KD3AID, will be
transmitting amateur radio Slow Scan TV images from space during the SpaceX
Fram2 mission, planned for launch on March 31.

The Fram2 mission is set to become the first human space flight in polar
orbit – flying over the North and South poles. Named after the famous polar
exploration ship Fram, which completed voyages to both the Arctic and
Antarctica. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch four astronauts from
Europe and Australia into orbit for 3-5 days.

During the Fram2 mission Rabea Rogge, LB9NJ (Norway) and KD3AID (USA), will
be operating the onboard amateur (ham) radio system sending SSTV images as
part of a high school and university student competition. These SSTV images
will also be available to be received by the general public during the
mission.

The International Space Station simulated the Fram2 SSTV mode PD-120
transmissions from February 13-17 on 437.550 MHz FM to enable people to
gain proficiency in receiving the signals before the mission.

Fram2Ham is an experimental radio competition open to high school and
university ages. Rogge will send pictures of three geographical locations
via an onboard ham radio, but here’s the twist: they’ll be cut into pieces
and mixed up! Participants will receive only fragments of the locations and
need to guess where on Earth they are and what their role in polar history
was. While anyone can receive the pictures, forming an international team
may help you solve the puzzle!

There are several challenges like low transmit power, variations of antenna
orientation, and a short, 3-day mission duration, with only a limited time
assigned for the SSTV operation. These challenges require operating
proficiency and the use of the best attainable radio station and this
simulation shall give the possibility to exercise this.

Dear friends!

We regret to inform you that, according to the forecast, our small OrbiKraft-Zorkiy RS15S spacecraft will complete its orbital mission and burn up in the dense layers of Earth's atmosphere in mid-April. On March 22, 2025, it will be exactly four years since its launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.🛰

This satellite is special to all of us. Many technical solutions successfully confirmed their onboard flight qualifications. Its development provided invaluable experience that formed the basis for future missions and serial satellite production. We managed to take many photographs of the Earth and even obtain an image of the Moon.

The satellite also perfectly fulfilled its amateur radio mission: the ability to transmit SSTV images and digital data was developed, which is now available to all subsequent satellites on our platforms for educational and outreach purposes.

Unfortunately, not all of the planned amateur radio events took place. However, we want to assure you that our team continues to work on implementing similar projects and experiments, as well as on implementing new interesting ideas. After all, our company has always supported amateur radio as an important technical hobby for our compatriots and like-minded people from other countries.

OrbiCraft-Zorkiy is leaving, but there is already a worthy replacement for wonderful CubeSats in orbit, which continue to delight with their activity. And the “old Orbi” will remain forever in our hearts and memories. 💔

❗️As a token of appreciation for your support and interest in the OrbiKraft-Zorkiy mission, we are presenting its latest diploma program.

Starting on March 11th and until the final signal, OrbiKraft-Zorkiy RS15S will begin transmitting farewell text messages. Message intervals are 120 seconds.

A total of four messages are transmitted: one for each orbital year elapsed.

For receiving at least one message, the participant will receive a commemorative diploma in electronic format.

Our team will award a special prize for receiving all four farewell messages and the "golden package" (i.e., the satellite's last message in April before its reentry).

All applications are accepted exclusively by email to [email protected]. The terms of the diploma program may change at the organizers' discretion. Follow the updates on the website https://sputnix.ru/ru/sputniki/proshhalnaya-diplomnaya-programma-orbikraft-zorkiy.

Thank you for being with OrbiCraft-Zorky! Thank you for your experience and participation!

There are images transmitted from Stratosat-TK1 (RS52S) cubesat on 435.870 MHz. Satellite have two cameras: UCAM-III (same as on Geoscan-Edelveis) and high resolution camera. So there are two formats of image transmission. Format of UCAM-III (Low resolution, LR) transmission is the same with Geoscan...
