A look inside ‘𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, ________’, Danny Lim’s first solo exhibition in Malaysia, featuring a series of photographic works that trace his shift from the fast-paced global fashion circuit back to the quiet familiarity of home. The show offers a straightforward, two-way introduction between the photographer and the land he calls home.

This exhibition showcases a series of quiet portraits of Malaysian youth, cast by Tham Casting with Sara Kong producing the original photo shoot. Alongside the photography, the gallery features an on-site text installation written by Kelly Lim. Departing from his usual high-fashion models, these frames capture the subjects in their simplest form, creating an intimate space where people can just be themselves.

For Danny, this exhibition marks a return home. After years spent moving through New York and fashion capitals around the world, his lens now slows down to reconnect with the people, places, and rhythms that first shaped him. Through these photographs, home is revisited with a renewed sense of intimacy and reflection.

Meet, 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗺!

Danny Lim is a fashion photographer based in New York, born and raised in Penang, Malaysia. His work has appeared in international publications such as Interview
Magazine, Vogue (HK, Japan, and Korea), Numéro Berlin, Document Journal, and ODDA Magazine. He has also shot for global brands including Calvin Klein, Burberry, and Luar. His portrait subjects include Dylan O’Brien, Havana Rose Liu, Naomi Watanabe, Thomas Doherty, Shawn Yue, and Trippie Redd.

‘𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, ________’ is his first solo exhibition in Malaysia, shifting his focus from the global fashion circuit back to the familiarity of home. The exhibition offers a straightforward, two-way introduction between the photographer and the land he calls home. Under the guidance of Penang-based director Soonufat Supramaniam (Sir Soon) and coached by Aida Redza, you will join a community dedicated to mastering physical discipline and developing stronger stage presence. Through our structured and rigorous training methods, we help you bridge the gap between “interest” and “impact,” giving you the tools to command the stage with confidence and build a powerful connection with your fellow performers.

Come with an open heart and leave with a deeper understanding of what it means to truly perform.

Theatre Lab @ Hin Bus Depot moves away from purely text-based acting, focusing instead on the Body as the primary instrument. The curriculum is inspired by three pillars of performance training methods:

𝗮. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙯𝙪𝙠𝙞 𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧’𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜: Developing a “strong center,” rootedness, and explosive emotional power.
𝗯. 𝙑𝙞𝙚𝙬𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨: A technique of improvisation that builds heightened ensemble awareness and spontaneous stage presence.
𝗰. 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 (Butoh-inspired): Exploring the subconscious and the raw, expressive potential of the human form.

For a photographer returning to the rhythms and familiarity of home, this exhibition is that morning.

After years of traversing the manic New York scene and the fashion capitals of the world, the lens now turns back toward home. This collection is a conversation between them: a photographer coming home to see his roots with fresh clarity, and a community discovering one of its own for the first time.

Each portrait is a personal greeting: to a friend, a name, a presence. Intimate yet open, they reflect a generation of youth in Malaysia at their own daybreak—confident, wide-eyed, and undefined. There is a softness to these encounters. A sense of exploration, where identity shifts and unfolds over time.

It is a rediscovery of place, and a discovery of self.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined, and a special shoutout to our facilitators Trexus, Sliz and Chan for leading such a fun and interactive session 🙌 Participants got hands-on crafting their own unique banknotes, “𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨” their own currency using stamps and pigments to create their designs.
