🚨 BREAKING: Phil Gore’s Insane Backyard Ultra Victory after 764 Kilometers. 114 Laps.
After nearly five straight days of running, he became the Backyard Ultra World Champion, covering 114 laps of a 6.7 km loop that’s roughly 764 km in total.
The race took place in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, and the format is brutal: every hour, runners must complete a loop. If you miss the start of the next hour, you’re out. The last person standing wins.
Competitors barely sleep, eat, or even wash during the event it’s a pure test of endurance and mental grit.
Gore outlasted Belgium’s Ivo Steyaert, who dropped out during lap 113, making Phil the final finisher and the new world champion.
When it was over, his first words weren’t about records or glory. They were simple: “I’m tired, I just want to sleep.”
His wife’s reaction? “Oh, you stink.”
Earlier this year, Gore already broke the world record by running 119 laps (797.3 km) at the Dead Cow Gully Backyard Masters in Australia.
Now, holding both the world title and world record, he says he might finally hang up his backyard ultra shoes and look for a new challenge.
