The Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival is a yearly event organized by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane in collaboration with the Moroccan Short Film Festival of Rabat. With a jury made up of professional filmmakers and faculty, the ASFF is an opportunity for AUI students to showcase their technical and creative skills in a prestigious and rewarding shor

t film competition. In addition to the competition, the ASFF will also host two panel discussions revolving around award winning short films in the presence of the filmmakers. Mission

As we prepare for the 8th Edition of the Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival, we are celebrating Amazigh culture.

At the heart of our Tamghrabit lies an identity that refuses to be sidelined. This year, under the theme Cinema of Tamazgha, we explore how our visual narrative acts as a bridge between the deep history that anchors us and the future we are building.

We all know the name. We are honored to announce Fatima Ezzahra El Jaouhari as a member of the official Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival 8th Edition Jury.


Our beloved Moroccan actress, known for her international films and television series alike, remains uninterested in glamour and spotlights. Instead, she is driven by a profound desire to live multiple lives through her characters.

From her powerful performances in Burnout and Hayati, Fatima Ezzahra El Jaouhari has also gained international recognition while sharing the screen with icons like Sir Ben Kingsley, , and .

Now considered one of the most talented actresses of this generation, Fatima Ezzahra joins us to help bring students and their work closer to the industry professionals shaping the future of filmmaking.

It’s easy to feel isolated, but we can’t forget the deep, long history that anchors us all.

At the heart of our Tamghrabit is our Amazigh identity, it’s in our language, our history, and our art. And this year, The 8th Edition of Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival is honoring the roots that connect us.

We are proud to reveal the theme for ASFF 8: Cinema of Tamazgha

Amazigh cinema is a tool of resistance, a way to reclaim our narrative from folklore and over-branding. So ASFF is intending to explore the possibilities of our visual narrative through Cinema.
