Šiam festivaliui suteikti reprezentacinio Klaipėdos miesto ir prioritetinio Lietuvos mėgėjų meno festivalių statusai. Festivalis yra įtrauktas į CIOFF (tarptautinės liaudies meno organizacijos prie UNESCO) festivalių kalendorių. Laukiami įvairių šalių bei Lietuvos folkloro kolektyvai.

The international folklore festival Parbeg laivelis is one of the largest celebrations of ethnic culture i
n Western Lithuania. Its characteristic feature is the attention to authenticity. Performers from different Lithuanian regions and abroad are invited to the festival. They dance, sing and participate at evening-parties and processions. Demonstrative workshops of crafts, different exhibitions, presentations of food and kitchen traditions of different nations and specific Klaipeda regional fairs are arranged during this folklore festivity. Companies from England, Greece, India, Japan, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Belgium and Italy have already performed at the festival. Water is the axis of the massive folklore festivity; that's why the events of the festival usually move from ordinary stages and squares to the waterfront. Concerts are held near the river Dane or right in it, in the waters of the Curonian Bay, onboard the moored ships in the quays. Parbeg laivelis is listed in the festival calendar of the international folk-art organization CIOFF under UNESCO.
