Sri Lanka 4*400m mixed relay team won Silver in 25th Asian Athletics Championships .

The team consisted of Aruna Dharshana, Tharushi Karunarathna, Kalinga Kumara and Nadeesha Ramanayaka won the silver medal with new national record of 3:15.41seconds.

It was the first time that Sri Lanka field a senior team at an international competition. The team shaved exactly 10 seconds from the previous record of 3:25.41.So far SL had four international appearances (junior and senior) where Tharushi was a member of every relay team. This 3:15.41 ranks all time 33rd in the world and 4th in Asia. It also at 15th place at world ranking as of today.

Interestingly, Gold medalists India, Silver medalists Sri Lanka, Bronze medalists Japan and 6th placed Philippines established new national records.

Tharushi becomes the second school girl to win a medal after Damayanthi Darsha's performance in Manila 1993.

Moreover, Aruna becomes the first male athlete from SL to win a medal at both junior and senior championships. Tharushi also the 4th female athlete to win a medal at both Asian junior and senior championships after Damayanthi Dharsha, Susanthika Jayasinghe and Vidusha Lakshani.

With this medal Nadeesha owns two medals at this championships.
