Sri Lanka Design Festival Sri Lanka's National Celebration of Design and Creativity

Colombo, reimagined.

A city that became a stage. A movement that redefined Colombo’s story.
This was Sri Lanka Design Festival.

From stories to streets, from creators to communities, we didn’t just showcase design, we lived it.

This is what happens when a city creates together.
This is What’s Your Colombo.

A new year opens new ways of seeing.

In 2026, we move forward with intention and imagination, redefining design as something that belongs to everyone. Design as dialogue. Design as culture. Design as a shared language that shapes cities, communities, and futures.

At SLDF, the future is not something we wait for. It is something we design together.

Here’s to bold ideas, thoughtful making, and the courage to imagine what comes next.

From Colombo to the country, we are coming together to support communities rebuilding after the floods.

We call on our design and creative community to stand with us as we extend care to the women in Jaffna, Mannar, Gampaha, Mullaitivu and beyond.

Every act of kindness helps restore stability, strength and hope.

As we conclude this year’s Sri Lanka Design Festival, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who shaped these five days of design, dialogue and discovery.

To our graduates, thank you for presenting work that reflects discipline, ambition and the future of our creative industries. To your families and friends, your support and encouragement were felt throughout the festival.

To the speakers who contributed to our Design Dialogues and Showcases, and to our special invited speakers, workshop hosts and partners, thank you for bringing expertise, clarity and perspective to every session. Your contributions strengthened the intellectual core of SLDF.

To our sponsors, media and partners, we appreciate your commitment to advancing design and culture in Sri Lanka. Your collaboration enables this platform to grow in impact and reach.

To our guests, and to all who engaged with Experience Colombo, explored the Trails or opened their spaces as collaborators, thank you for helping us demonstrate how design can connect a city and its people in meaningful ways.

SLDF 2025 stands as a testament to collective effort and shared vision. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to champion design and creativity in Sri Lanka.

Tanu Sinha, Director and Head of Design for PepsiCo India and South Asia, delivered an incredibly insightful session at the SLDF Design Dialogues.

With over two decades of experience shaping consumer centric brand experiences across India, South Asia and global markets, Tanu brought a rare depth of clarity, honesty and strategic thinking to the conversation. Drawing from her journey at PepsiCo and Nestlé, she unpacked how design thinking, cultural insight and creative rigor come together to drive meaningful innovation.

A global awards juror, mentor and advisor to leading design institutions, Tanu shared perspectives that resonated deeply with both established practitioners and emerging creatives in the room.

A remarkable dialogue that left our audience inspired, challenged and energised for the future of design.

Harpo’s Colombo is vibrant and ever evolving, shaped by stunning sunsets, bold architecture, and the blend of old and new. For him, the city’s greatest strength is its people: a truly multi ethnic community living as one.

With over twenty years in the restaurant world, he has watched Colombo transform, especially its dining and entertainment scene, now one of the city’s defining experiences. This year, many of his restaurants join the Sri Lanka Design Festival to create unique moments for visitors.

From buzzing streets and jewellery quarters to museums and landmarks like the Red Mosque, his Colombo is full of energy and discovery. Simply amazing.
This November, through the Sri Lanka Design Festival, we are reimagining how we see our city. Through design and through you.

For Vasantha, Colombo is where history and modernity live side by side. The city’s layers come alive through its cultural heritage and creative energy, from landmarks like the Belfast Hotel and Dutch Hospital to contemporary expressions shaped by SLDF and AOD. His Colombo is a vibrant tapestry where the old and the new coexist, giving the city its unmistakable character.
