Child, Adolescent and Family Services A service specially dedicated in order provide support and assistance for children, adolescents and

CAF Services is an initiative launched by THEME institute which aims to provide comprehensive psychological support for children and adolescents who suffer from various mental health conditions ranging from behavioral problems to developmental disorders. At present Sri Lanka does not have many centers dedicated to child mental health and even those that are available tend to focus more on psychiatry rather than psychology. We at CAFS hope to promote awareness on child and adolescent mental health, conduct necessary assessments and provide tailor made interventions. Furthermore,we plan on organizing specialized workshops and initiate parent support forums in order to create a platform for parents and caregivers of children where they can get together and share their stories and seek help and support from one another. We at THEME further engage in carrying out multi- disciplinary research in the areas of Technology, Health, Environment, Migration Ethics and Education order to identify the needs and create tangible, people-oriented policy drive to address current
and future challenges in these core thematic areas while promoting mental health in general and Child Mental health in particular. For inquiries write to us on [email protected] or whatsapp on +94 76 406 7004

Sometimes, changing the narrative starts with something as simple as how we respond when someone is struggling.

We don’t always need to have the perfect words. We don’t need to fix everything. But we can listen. We can ask. We can stay. We can take someone seriously. And we can help create spaces where reaching out doesn’t feel like a burden or a weakness.

Su***de prevention is not only about what happens in a crisis. It is also about the everyday conversations, relationships and communities that help people feel “seen, heard, valued and connected.”

This World Su***de Prevention Day, let’s challenge the assumptions that keep people silent and replace them with compassion, courage and connection.

Change the narrative.
Change the conversation.
Change how we show up for one another.

Because sometimes, being there can make all the difference.🤍

Today some of the team CAFS was able to take part in an interesting initiative co-collaborated by our parent institute, THEME where we shared insights and ideas about how mental health is impacted by changes in climate. Here’s to continuing to be a part of many such initiatives that informs both policy and support communities at the ground level…

Nine years ago, we lost a best friend, an inspiring colleague, a brilliant academic, and a devoted son.

They say grief becomes easier with time…but in truth, it’s about learning how to carry it, to grow around it, and to keep moving forward while holding on to the love and memories.

As CAFS turns ten later this year, and as our parent organization founded by Dr. Chesmal; marks its tenth anniversary next month, we are reminded of the legacy he left behind. We miss him deeply, but we know he would be proud of how far we’ve come.

Here’s to continuing his vision, giving back to the country, just as he always believed in.
