It was a heartbreaking finish for Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC, but what an incredible run they had. Losing the 2025–26 AFC Challenge League final to Al-Kuwait yesterday (May 13, 2026) definitely stings, especially after they also reached the final last year.
Even though they missed out on the trophy, PKR Svay Rieng represented Cambodia and the entire ASEAN region with massive pride. A few things to be optimistic about:
• Kwame Peprah finished as the tournament's top scorer with 8 goals, proving that PKR Svay Rieng can compete with the best in the continent.
• They are the first Cambodian club to reach back-to-back continental finals (2024/25 and 2025/26), which is a huge statement for the growth of the Cambodian Premier League.
• With their domestic dominance—having just secured their third consecutive CPL title in April—they'll likely be right back in the mix for international silverware soon.
The gap is closing, and hopefully, we'll see an ASEAN club lifting a major AFC trophy in the very near future. It’s a tough loss, but like you said, Good job PKR Sv! 🇰🇭🏆
