WELCOME TO OUR FESTIVAL!🐾✨️🎬

Thank you so much for all your patience while our team got some much needed time to unwind and regroup. 💆🏾‍♀️💪🏾We're back with photos from our incredible event that was PWFF the sequel at in Watamu!

We started our festival with Giriama dances and welcome addresses from our festival director and the senior warden at KWS Watamu.

🐾 Ana Luisa Santos, Film & Awards Coordinator:
Ana Luisa Santos, a Portuguese wildlife filmmaker and co-owner of Ateles Films, excels in producing, directing, and shooting wildlife documentaries globally. Selected as a fellow for the Jackson Wild Cinematography Lab, she actively serves as a judge in major wildlife film festivals, contributing to exceptional wildlife storytelling.

🐾 Sheelagh Imani, Head of Operations & Festival Manager
Sheelagh Imani, a dynamic professional in the wildlife and tourism sector, brings expertise in multimedia production, communication, and animation. As COO and Festival Manager, she ensures smooth planning and ex*****on of the wildlife film festival, engaging diverse stakeholders and promoting wildlife and tourism.

🐾 Julie Nguyo, Communications & Administration Lead
Julie Nguyo, a versatile filmmaker with a degree in Filmmaking, passionately contributes to Africa's film industry. With skills in graphic design, social media management, and website management, she aims to leverage her expertise for the industry's growth and development.

🐾 Michael Obanda, Graphic Designer
Michael Obanda, an innovative creative designer, is known for exceptional skills and an imaginative approach. With a keen eye for detail and deep understanding of design principles, he creates visually stunning designs across various mediums, exceeding expectations with his versatility and expertise.

🐾 Maria Hashmi, Social Media Manager
Maria Hashmi, a passionate conservationist in Pakistan, actively preserves the natural world. Through her nature camp for kids and participation in a family-run nature reserve, she takes hands-on steps to nurture and protect wildlife and their habitats. Collaborating with organizations, she contributes to broader conservation efforts and shares her journey through her inspiring Instagram blog.

🐘 Introducing The Baraza: Empowering Wildlife Film Festival through Expert Advisory.
With diverse expertise in conservation, storytelling, and community engagement, we amplify wildlife voices and inspire action. Join us in our mission to make a difference at the festival.
Meet our incredible panel:

1. Jacquie Pohl: Founder and Director of WILD EARTH OCEANIA, Australia's first wildlife-focused film festival. She is dedicated to restoring global wildlife through this initiative. With a diverse background in film, adventure sports, and neuroscience, Jacquie has a deep connection to the land and extensive experience in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.

2. Marete Selvin: A producer with a passion for storytelling, Marete has produced documentaries on global issues such as health, climate change, agriculture, and conservation. As a co-founder of Meraki Africa, she is committed to telling compelling stories that inspire positive social change.

3. Mkamzee Mwatela: Coming from a family of storytellers, Mkamzee has made a name for herself in film, television, and theater. With numerous credits as an actor, director, and writer, she combines her passion for performance with teaching and writing.

4. Resson Kantai Duff: Resson, the Portfolio Funding Director at Maliasili, focuses on community-led conservation efforts in Africa. She is a TED speaker, National Geographic Explorer, and advocate for local ownership of wildlife and culture. Her background in biodiversity and conservation management informs her work.

5. Van Yang: Van is a Chinese-American director and cinematographer known for his work with international clients and tourism boards. With a background in government and environmental philosophy, he brings a unique perspective to his projects.

6. Ruwaydah Abdul-Rahman: Founder of Ruwaydah Abdul-Rahman Consulting (RARC), Ruwaydah specializes in conservation, non-profits, and philanthropy. She is a strategic troubleshooter, storyteller, and relationship builder who helps organizations increase their impact and funding.
