Koto Artist Rie Asai & Koto Chikage Performers

Rie Asai is a celebrated koto artist and composer who was officially invited to the Vatican, where she had the rare honor of meeting and performing for His Holiness Pope Francis, the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. During this historic occasion, she performed her original compositions, including the powerful and heartfelt piece “Prayer for Peace.”

Driven by her mission to spread harmony, unity, and cultural understanding through music, Rie Sensei has traveled across 16 countries, performing with the koto — a traditional Japanese instrument regarded as an instrument of prayer — sharing messages of peace, culture, and human connection through every performance.

As the head of Koto Chikage, she is also passionately committed to nurturing young artists and creating meaningful artistic opportunities for children and youth.

Bilang isa sa mga miyembro ng opisyal na organisasyong kumakatawan sa mga Pilipino sa pinakamalaking alyansa ng komunidad ng mga Pilipino sa rehiyon ng Chūbu — ang Filipino Community Central Japan o FCCJ, na sumasaklaw sa siyam na prefecture — ang Toyama Association of Filipino Communities ay buong pusong nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng ika-128 Anibersaryo ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Consulate General in Nagoya.
Sa temang “Himig ng Kalayaan” — Pagdiriwang ng Kalayaan sa Pamamagitan ng Orihinal na Musikang Pilipino, buong pagmamalaking inihahandog ng FCCJ Committee on Culture and Youth ang orihinal na awiting “TAYO AY IISA.”
