SANIX Judo, Day 6 and last - sightseeing around Fukuoka Prefecture, shopping and a Farewell Party for the overseas teams coaches. All players and staff were taken in 5 coaches first to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, which was bustling with hope and energy, as young people come to pray for success in their entrance exams and buy lucky charms. Huge queues in front of the bronze bulls who bring you prosperity, at the umegae-mochi hot rice cakes stalls and the souvenir shops. Still, can`t beat the Gundam statue in front of LaLaPort, where we went for lunch and more shopping. Nor Fukuoka Tower - our last stop - which has an observatory deck on the 53 floor, from where you can see the whole city and the blue waters of Hakata Bay. Unfortunately, time was not enough to enjoy the skate rink nearby, but we`ll factor it in for 2026🙂 On return, all coaches, staff and some parents, too attended the Farewell Party for overseas teams at our Japanese restaurant Sakura. Thank you for the useful suggestions for the next edition and the heartfelt wishes for 2026! See you all again here, and don`t forget we have 4 other judo events - GA Cup in February (U14), Kinshuki Judo in July (U19), Genkaiki Judo in September (U14) and Hinomaru Kids in January 2027 (U12). Keeping all fingers crossed for you!!!

More judo at the post-tournament practice matches on Day 5, but it obviously wasn`t enough to wear down the players (well, most of them at least), because they were back to the gymnasium for another 2 hours of fun and exercise once the tatami were gone. How many sports can you spot in the picture? Thank you, Judo South Africa for the wonderful idea - we`ll definitely incorporate it in the overall program from next year.

8 am, December 26, 2025 - our Gymnasium opens for all partcipating players and their supporters, some of whom have braved the wind for 2 hours already. Warm-up until 8:55, then preparations for the Opening Ceremony where last year winners returned the championship flag to the organizers and the action begins. A total of 29 teams from overseas are here this year, and some put a brave fight, with Mongolia Judo Academy boys giving in to the eventual champions of Tokai Univ. Sagami Junior High School only on points. The girls competition saw a new winner, too - Taisei Junior High School from Aichi Prefecture. Footage of the final matches to be posted tomorrow, stay tuned🙂

SANIX Judo Day 3

26/12/2025

Yesterday morning overseas players enjoyed shopping and eating out, and the rain couldn`t stop them from having fun away from the mats. In the afternoon they were briefed on the tournament rules - recent IJF stuff basically, but also with some local restrictions meant to protect young players. Then, there was the technical workshop given by Mr. Kotaro Ueoka, bronze medalist from Tashkent and Tokyo Grands Slams, and a native of Fukuoka Prefecture. Mr. Ueoka demonstrated his favourite Seoinage and explained in detail how to deploy it successfully. And from 18:30 all overseas teams coaches and staff were invited to the Coaches Function, joined by the coaches of the Japanese teams attending from as far as Hokkaido and Tohoku region this year. A day off to recharge and prepare for the big occasion.

The second day of the Training Camp for overseas was a huge success, too, with the participation of 5 local clubs - Wajiro JHS, Kurate JHS, Kasuya-higashi JHS, Chiyo JHS and Naka JHS. In fact there were so many players coming to Matsumoto Yasuichi Martial Arts Gymnasium that we had to split the overseas teams in two groups and do two practice sessions - in the morning and the afternoon. Kudos to the players of the 3 local schools as well as to the teams of Zhengde JHS and Zhuwei JHS from Chinese Taipei who attended both sessions. PM training started with a welcome greetings in all overseas teams languages, delivered by the boys and girls of Kurate JHS judo club. Hope you enjoy the congratulatory dance at the end of the video, too. Good night, sleep tight🙂
