2026年6月13日にジオアカデミー第二回目「歴史文化」の開催について

Mine秋吉台ジオパーク推進協議会は、ジオパークエリアの過去から現在までの人々の暮らしや生き物の営み、大地の成り立ちと、それぞれのつながりを知るための学習講座「ジオアカデミー」を今年度開講します。４分野の全５回からなる本構では、国内外の他地域との比較を交えながら、各分野の特徴について講義形式概説します。誰でもご参加いただけます。

ジオアカデミーの二回目の講座は、「歴史文化」をテーマにして、山根健二氏（文化財保護課）がお話されます。

【東京にてイベント開催】ジオパーク・食の祭典　〜地球を、味わい尽くす。〜
山口県のMine秋吉台ジオパークが新たにユネスコ世界ジオパークに認定されたことを記念して、全国各地のジオパークが東京・丸の内に集結します。

今回のテーマは「食」。その土地の成り立ちや歴史が、どうやって「おいしい」に繋がっているのか ――。そんな驚きと発見が詰まった「ガストロノミー（食文化）の旅」を体験できる３日間。トークやクイズなどもご用意しております。Mine秋吉台ジオパークからも、美祢市の特産品を出店します。東京近辺にいらっしゃる方は、ぜひお越しください。

5月20日に東京都の国際連合大学で開催された「日本のユネスコ加盟75周年記念フォーラム」に、Mine秋吉台ジオパーク推進協議会の篠田会長がユネスコ登録事業関係団体のパネリストとして参加しました！

日本がユネスコに加盟して75周年という記念すべき節目を祝う国際的なフォーラムでは、篠田会長がMine秋吉台ジオパークが新規ユネスコ世界ジオパークとして認定されたことを報告し、ユネスコ活動に取り組む理由について発信しました。

フォーラムでは、エルアナーニーユネスコ事務局長をはじめとする各界のリーダーと対話を重ね、ジオパークのネットワークが持つ可能性を確信しました。フォーラムに参加して得た知見やネットワークは、これからのMine秋吉台ジオパークの発展に活用していきます。

On May 20, President Shinoda of Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark Promotion Council participated as a panellist representing organisations involved in UNESCO-registered projects at the 75th Anniversary Forum of Japan’s Membership in UNESCO, held at the United Nations University in Tokyo!
The forum was an international occasion celebrating the significant milestone of the 75th anniversary of Japan’s membership in UNESCO. President Shinoda reported on the recent designation of Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark, and shared the reasons behind our commitment to activities related to UNESCO.
During the forum, he engaged in dialogue with leaders from various fields, including the Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany, and further strengthened our confidence in the potential of the network of Geoparks. The insights and connections gained from participating in this forum will be utilised for the future development of Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark.

Today is the final day of a long holiday week, and Akiyoshidai is once again bathed in glorious sunshine. The bracken, which has only just unfurled its leaves—a sight unique to this time of year—glows a vibrant green, creating a truly breathtaking scene.

Mine秋吉台ジオパークがユネスコ世界ジオパークとして正式に認定されたことを記念し、2026年4月25日（土）に「Mine秋吉台ユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定記念イベント」を開催しました！子どもから大人まで楽しめる地域の文化体験や遊びのブースが盛りだくさんで、当日は天候にも恵まれ、多くの参加者にご来場いただき、大盛況の一日でした。本イベントの開催にあたり、ご協力いただいたパートナー・関係者の皆様、そしてご来場いただいた皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。次回のイベントでお会いできることを楽しみにしています！

To commemorate the official designation of Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark, we held a commemorative event on Saturday, April 25, 2026! The event featured a wide variety of booths offering local cultural experiences and activities for all ages. We were blessed with good weather, and thanks to the many participants who attended, it was a hugely successful day. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our partners and stakeholders who supported this event, as well as to everyone who attended. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

2026年4月24日（金）、Mine秋吉台ユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定記念ジオツアーを実施しました！当日は約60名の方と一緒に、Mine秋吉台ジオパークの特徴的な地質地形遺産を表している3色「白・黒・赤」をテーマにした3つのコースを楽しみました。

• 白（石灰岩）コース ：地元の人もあまり訪れたことのないスポットである、美東展望台、景清洞、石灰石の露天掘りを巡るツアー。
• 黒（石炭）コース ：桃ノ木ボタッ子クラブのご協力のもと、炭鉱遺構や、かつて賑わったまち並みを散策。さらに、露天掘り跡を目指して山を登り、炭鉱のスケールを体感。歴史・自然・運動を楽しむ、大人のための学び旅。
• 赤（銅）コース ：古代から近代までの長登銅山の歴史をたどり、地球の営みとその時代を生きた人々の息吹を感じる旅。
お昼は、堅田地区まちづくり協議会とジオガイド・事務局が考案した地域の恵みが詰まったジオ弁当」で、心もお腹もいっぱいになりました。

参加者の皆さんの笑顔や熱心な姿に、主催者スタッフも大喜びでした。今回のジオツアーは単なる観光ではなく、地域の皆さんと共にユネスコ世界ジオパークとしての誇りを分かち合い、絆を深める貴重な機会となりました。ご参加いただいた皆さん、ジオガイドさん、そしてご協力いただいた皆さんに心より感謝申し上げます。

On Friday, April 24, 2026, we held special geotours to celebrate the designation of Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark! On the day of the event, approximately 60 participants enjoyed one of the three different courses themed around the three colors of white, black, and red that represent the distinctive geologicalheritage of the Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark.

• White (Limestone) Course: A tour visiting the Mito Observation Deck, Kagekiyodo Cave, and an open-pit limestone quarry—spots rarely visited even by locals.
• Black (Coal) Course: With the cooperation of the Momonoki Botakko Club, we strolled through coal mine ruins and the townscape that was once bustling with activity. We also climbed a mountainto view the remains of a strip mine to experience the sheer scale of the coal mining operations. A learning journey for adults to enjoy history, nature, and also to exercise.
• Red (Copper) Course: A journey tracing the history of Naganobori Copper Mine from ancient times to the modern era, allowing you to feel the workings of the Earth and the spirit of the people who lived through those times.

For lunch, we enjoyed a “Geo Bento” packed with local delicacies, devised by the Katata District Regional Development Council, geoguides, and the Secretariat, which left us feeling full both in heart and stomach.

The Geopark staff were delighted to see the participants’ smiles and enthusiasm. These geotours were more than just sightseeing; they were valuable opportunities to share the pride of being a UNESCO Global Geopark with the local community and deepen our bonds. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, the geoguides, and everyone who supported the geotours.

Mine秋吉台ジオパークがユネスコ世界ジオパークとして認定されました！

2026年4月23日（木）、「Mine秋吉台ユネスコ世界ジオパークの誕生に立ち会う会」を開催しました！約120名の皆様にご来場いただき、共にその歴史的な瞬間を迎えました。フランスのパリからのオンライン傍聴を行い、認定が決まった瞬間の喜びは、参加者全員にとって忘れられない思い出となりました。

今回のユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定は、Mine秋吉台ジオパークが国際的に価値のある地質地形遺産を有し、それを地域全体で保全・活用していることが世界に認められたといえます。この認定により、Mine秋吉台ジオパークは山口県内初、国内11カ所目、そして世界で241カ所目のユネスコ世界ジオパークとなりました。

この貴重な価値を次世代へ繋ぎ、守り伝えていくMine秋吉台ジオパークの新たな旅は、今始まったばかりです。この歴史の一ページを共に綴ってくださった皆様に、心より感謝申し上げます。

Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark has been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark!

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, we held an event to celebrate the birth of the Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark! Approximately 120 people attended, and together we witnessed this historic moment. We joined the livestream from Paris, France, and the joy of the moment the designation was confirmed became an unforgettable memory for everyone present.

This UNESCO Global Geopark designation signifies that Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark has been recognized for possessing geological and geomorphological heritage of international significance, and for its efforts to preserve and utilize this heritage across the entire region. With this designation, Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark has become the first in Yamaguchi Prefecture, the 11th in Japan, and the 241st UNESCO Global Geopark in the world.

Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark’s new journey to pass on this precious legacy to future generations and preserve it for posterity has only just begun. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped us write this page of history together.

2026年4月23日　Mine秋吉台ジオパーク ユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定！

4月23日、フランス･ユネスコ本部で開催された会議において、Mine秋吉台ジオパークが、正式に「ユネスコ世界ジオパーク」として認定されました。

この認定は、Mine秋吉台ジオパークが有する「白」の石灰岩、「黒」の石炭、「赤」の銅といった貴重な地質地形遺産をはじめ、自然遺産、有形文化遺産、無形文化遺産が、学びや交流を通して地域活動に活かされていることが高く評価された結果であります。すなわち、Mine秋吉台ジオパークには国際的価値のある地質地形遺産が存在し、それを地域全体で保全・活用していることが、世界に認められたといえます。

この成果は、地域の皆さん、ジオガイド、関係機関の皆さんなど多くの方々が力を合わせて活動を続けてこられた努力の結晶にほかなりません。心より感謝申し上げます。

しかし、ユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定はゴールではなく、次なる挑戦への出発点です。私たちは、貴重な地質地形遺産、自然遺産、有形文化遺産、無形文化遺産を守りながら、次世代を担う子どもたちが世界とつながり、地域に誇りを持ち、未来を創り出していける環境を育んでまいります。

Mine秋吉台ジオパークは、これからも「地球に寄り添い、人とつながり、未来のあり方を考え行動する社会」の実現を目指し活動を続けていく所存でございます。どうか今後とも、地域一丸となって歩みを進める私たちへのご支援とご協力を賜りますよう、お願い申し上げます。

On April the 23rd, Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark was officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark at the UNESCO Executive Board meeting held at UNESCO’s headquarters in France.

This designation acknowledges and praises the ways in which Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark’s valuable geological heritage - including its “white” limestone, “black” coal, and “red” copper – as well as its natural heritage, tangible cultural heritage, and intangible cultural heritage are being utilised in local activities through learning and networking. In other words, Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark has been globally recognised for possessing geological heritage of international significance, which the entire region is working to preserve and utilise.

This achievement is nothing other than the fruit of the hard work of many people, including local residents, geoguides, and relevant stakeholders, who have worked together to sustain these activities. To that, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude.

Achieving this UNESCO designation is by no means the end goal; it marks the starting point for our new journey. We are committed to preserving our precious geological heritage, natural heritage, tangible cultural heritage, and intangible cultural heritage, while fostering an environment where the children of the next generation can connect with the world, take pride in their local community, and shape the future.

We at Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark are committed to continuing our activities with the aim of achieving “a society that draws close to the Earth, connects with people, and thinks and acts on how the future should be”. We sincerely ask for your continued support and cooperation as we move forward as a united community.
