Thy art churlish plume plucked flap dragons! Yes, this Friday at 7.30pm Romeo+Juliet will feature as Secret Cinema’s weekly Secret Sofa title.
After a breather on Bond to recoup our energies we have an after party for you... so if you fancy joining us for a night online of rivalry, mirth, cross dressing and all sorts of other mischief then click below.
The afterparty will kick off at 10.15pm (after the communal screening of the film) and will take us all across Verona from the Grove of Sycamore, to Father Lawrence’s hot house and o’er to the Montague Mechanics … and if you play hard and sing your hearts out, then maybe you’ll make it into Lady Capulet Mansion Disco Rave.

Young hearts & love fools! We are thrilled to announce that thanks to you attending our summer festival, £30,000 has been raised to tackle London street violence.

The issue of youth violence remains as relevant in London today as it did in Shakespeare’s Fair Verona. This was at the heart of our summer festival as we partnered with MAC-UK, a charity advocating ‘music and change’ to prevent street violence, alienation, inequality and exclusion in London.

Members of the Truce of Two Houses donated £30,000 which MAC-UK will use to work alongside young people close to the site of the show in Ealing and Hounslow. They will continue their citywide work to engage with gang afflicted young people and help them propose solutions to the problems they face in their own community.

We also thank Lowkey, social activist and rapper for collaborating over the campaign video below that bridged the issue in London with the audience.

Whilst it is true that the Capulets donated more generously, we are still accepting donations which will allow our project to run for longer and have more impact.

Young people are not the problem, they are the solution.

This day of peace and unity hath been scarred by these ancient foes who called upon their kin to share sparring exchanges of vitriol. Violent words bred angry gesture, sparking a mass brawl like Verona hath never seen.

Both houses in provocation have undone all the honest work of our ardent minister Father Laurence. All are punished!
