Dal 2017 la città di Venezia presenta The Venice Glass Week: un festival internazionale annuale dedicato a celebrare, promuovere e sostenere l'arte del vetro, con un focus speciale su quella di Murano. Dopo il grande successo dell'edizione straordinaria di The Italian Glass Weeks, torna nel 2023 The Venice Glass Week con un entusiasmante programma di mostre, visite guidate, workshop, dimostrazioni, conferenze, attività per famiglie e altro ancora (9-17 settembre 2023).

Since 2017 the city of Venice has staged The Venice Glass Week: an annual international festival dedicated to celebrating, promoting and supporting the art of glass, with a particular focus on that of Murano. Building on the success of The Italian Glass Weeks, The Venice Glass Week will return in 2023 with an exciting programme of exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, demonstrations, conferences, family activities and more (9th-17th September 2023)

Not only Venice and Murano: Mestre is also taking centre stage in the tenth edition of The Venice Glass Week, with a city-wide programme of initiatives focusing especially on glass beads, bringing the theme beyond museum spaces and into the urban fabric.

🔹 From 12 to 20 September, Biblioteca Civica VEZ will host the exhibition “Glass beads from around the world”, organised by Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia in collaboration with Comune di Venezia and the Committee for the Safeguarding of the Art of Venetian Glass Beads.
🔹 Mestre city centre will also host “Beads on Display”, an exhibition across local shops, organised by Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia in collaboration with FAI CENTRO! Mestre Shopping District, Comune di Venezia and Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa.
🔹 There will also be activities for children: on 16 September, Biblioteca VEZ Junior will host an educational workshop dedicated to glass beads, organised by Comune di Venezia with Didatticando.

Non solo Venezia e Murano, anche Mestre diventa protagonista della decima edizione di con un programma diffuso di iniziative dedicate soprattutto alle perle di vetro, portando il tema fuori dagli spazi museali e nel tessuto urbano.

🔹 Dal 12 al 20 settembre, la Biblioteca Civica VEZ ospita la mostra “Perle di vetro da tutto il mondo”, realizzata da Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia con il Comune di Venezia e il Comitato per la Salvaguardia dell’Arte delle Perle di Vetro Veneziane.
🔹 Il centro cittadino accoglie inoltre “Perle in vetrina”, una mostra diffusa nei negozi realizzata da Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia in collaborazione con FAI CENTRO! Mestre Shopping District, Comune di Venezia e Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa.
🔹 Non mancano le attività per i più piccoli: il 16 settembre alla Biblioteca VEZ Junior un laboratorio didattico dedicato alle perle di vetro, realizzato dal Comune di Venezia con l’associazione Didatticando.

Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia takes part in 2026 with a programme that brings together scientific research, contemporary art and educational activities.

🔹 At Museo di Storia Naturale di Venezia, on 14 and 15 September, the conference “Perle 6.0. The glass bead trade routes: Spain and Portugal”, followed on September 16 by the conference “Field Notes: Artists Observe Nature”.
🔹 At Casa di Carlo Goldoni, the exhibition “Valentina Miccoli: Officina”, and at Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo “Fermacarte, fermaporte e fermaportoni”, in collaboration with the Comitato Vetri di Laguna.
🔹 In Murano, Museo del Vetro hosts “BABEL. Marco Toso Borella” until 30 March 2027, while the fifth edition of the competition “La tua perla per Venezia” begins on September 12, organised by the Comitato per la Salvaguardia dell’Arte delle Perle di Vetro Veneziane together with the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and Association des Perliers d'Art de France.
🔹 At ISS Abate Zanetti, the exhibition “Glass Bridge: From Murano to Shanga”, curated by Emmanuel Babled Studio as well as workshops and activities dedicated to beadmaking and the art of glass seed beads.

Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia partecipa a 2026 con un programma che intreccia ricerca scientifica, arte contemporanea e attività educative.

🔹 Al Museo di Storia Naturae di Venezia appuntamento il 14 e 15 settembre con il convegno “PERLE 6.0. Le vie commerciali delle perle di vetro: Spagna e Portogallo” e il 16 settembre con la conferenza “Field Notes: Artists Observe Nature”.

From 15 to 17 September at Palazzo Franchetti, the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in collaboration with Corning Museum of Glass, Ecole du Louvre, Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia, LE STANZE DEL VETRO, Venice International Foundation, Victoria and Albert Museum will organise the 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬, a longstanding seminar series designed for glass experts from across Europe and the United States, including museum curators, scholars, collectors, restorers and glass artists. This year’s edition will focus on Venetian Glass and à la Façon de Venise in the Low Countries.

French designer, artist and scenographer Pierre Charpin lives and works between Paris and Ivry-sur-Seine. After studying visual arts, he began focusing on furniture and object design in the 1990s, while continuing to develop his artistic practice.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading international brands including Alessi, Hermès, HAY, Ligne Roset, Venini and Zanotta.

His work has been featured in numerous international exhibitions and scenography projects. In 2017, he was named Creator of the Year by Maison&Objet.

His Triplo vase, produced by Venini, was selected for the 2005 edition of the Compasso d’Oro. Many of his creations are part of public collections, such as the FNAC (National Foundation for Contemporary Art), the Centre Pompidou, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

We can't wait to see the chandelier he designed for 𝑴𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂 𝒊𝒍 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒐.

Pierre Charpin, designer, artista e scenografo francese, vive e lavora tra Parigi e Ivry-sur-Seine. Dopo gli studi in arti visive, dagli anni Novanta si dedica al design di mobili e oggetti, continuando parallelamente la propria ricerca artistica.

Nel corso della sua carriera ha collaborato con importanti realtà internazionali come Alessi, Hermès, HAY, Ligne Roset, Venini e Zanotta.

Il suo lavoro è stato protagonista di numerose mostre internazionali e progetti di scenografia. Nel 2017 è stato nominato Créateur de l’année da Maison&Objet.

Il suo vaso Triplo, prodotto da Venini, viene selezionato per l’edizione 2005 del Compasso D’Oro. Molte delle sue creazioni fanno parte delle collezioni della FNAC (Fondazione Nazionale di Arte Contemporanea) del Centre Pompidou e del Museo di Arti Decorative di Parigi.

Non vediamo l'ora di scoprire il lampadario che ha ideato per 𝑴𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂 𝒊𝒍 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒐.

✨ Let's continue to discover the events staged by the Organising Committee of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌.

Until 22nd November LE STANZE DEL VETRO hosts the exhibition 𝟏𝟗𝟒𝟖–𝟏𝟗𝟓𝟖 𝑴𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒆, the third chapter of the exhibition programme dedicated to the presence of Murano glass at the Venetian event, curated by Marino Barovier. For Murano, this decade marked an exceptionally fertile season, in tune with the cultural dynamism of the economic boom and with the rise of design culture.

📚In addition, from 14th to 18th September, the Centro Studi del Vetro (Glass Study Centre) of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini will open its archives to the public: a unique opportunity to discover and appreciate the rich documentary heritage of glass art.
