FLAT stands for Fiera Libro Arte Torino (Torino Art Book Fair): the new international event dedicated to art publications, or even more to books as artwork and as an instrument for the distribution and circulation of contemporary cultural values. FLAT wants to effectively respond to the need—more and more critical in Italy—to play a part in promoting and supporting contemporary art publishing, rec
ognizing its important role in the diffusion and knowledge of its contents. FLAT wants to bring together leading publishers and small, independent presses, book makers, print makers, artists, collectors and book lovers, to create a space for promoting the finest international art editions, from exhibition catalogs, monographs, literary essays, and artist’s books, to rare and out-of-print editions and magazines. FLAT is an idea by FLAT, the namesake cultural association which defines its guidelines and program with the support of an experienced international Scientific Committee of professionals from the publishing and contemporary art fields. Curators and experts will plan a program of events that include exhibitions, conferences, presentations and workshops, delving into the art publishing world and exploring the practices and issues related to the culture of the artist's book, both in Italy and abroad. FLAT will be an important platform for promoting and selling artists’ books, as well as a hub for the production and exchange of ideas.
