Five-time Emmy winner and Academy Award nominee Laura is one of the most celebrated composers working today — scoring HBO’s Lovecraft Country, Marvel’s Ms. Marvel and The Marvels, and earning an Oscar nomination for American Fiction, making her one of only a handful of women ever nominated in that category. She’s also longtime faculty at USC’s Thornton School of Music, shaping the next generation of screen composers.

We’re excited to spotlight one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary screen music!

Laura Karpman is a five-time Emmy Award-winning, Grammy-nominated, and Oscar-nominated composer whose work spans film, television, video games, and concert music. Her acclaimed credits include Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Ms. Marvel, HBO’s Lovecraft Country, and the Oscar-winning film American Fiction. A graduate of Juilliard, she has built an extraordinary career across a wide range of musical worlds.

Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli are an Emmy-winning composing duo known for creating bold, distinctive musical worlds for film and television. Their work on Netflix’s The Witcher produced the viral hit “Toss A Coin To Your Witcher,” while their credits also include ONE PIECE and other major screen productions.

After joining us for our Italian Edition in 2024, we’re thrilled to have them back with us for SMP LA!

We’re bringing another incredible composer to SMP Los Angeles!

John Paesano is a BAFTA-winning, Emmy- and Grammy-nominated composer whose work spans blockbuster films, television, and video games. His credits include Marvel’s Daredevil, The Maze Runner trilogy, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and PlayStation’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games. Known for blending orchestral writing with electronic textures, Paesano has helped shape the sound of some of today’s most recognisable entertainment franchises.

We’re excited to have John join us in Los Angeles for the first time as part of the SMP lineup!

🎹 We’re proud to announce Patrick Kirst will join us as faculty member for the SMP LA Edition.

German-born, LA-based composer Patrick Kirst has spent two decades working with some of the biggest names in the industry. Credits include Disney’s Earth, the Netflix series Totenfrau, the thriller Breaking Surface, and the Netflix trilogy The Kissing Booth. He’s also faculty at USC’s Thornton School of Music, where he’s shaped the next generation of screen composers for years.

We’re thrilled to welcome Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli to the SMP Los Angeles Edition this November!

With an Emmy win and a Billboard #1 hit to their name, Sonya & Giona are the composers, songwriters, and music producers behind some of Netflix’s most distinctive musical worlds, including ONE PIECE and THE WITCHER.

Their work on ONE PIECE earned them an Emmy Award for Best Original Song for “My Sails Are Set” featuring AURORA, and an Emmy nomination for Best Music Direction & Composition, while THE WITCHER’s “Toss A Coin To Your Witcher” became a global phenomenon, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Rock Song Sales chart and amassing over half a billion streams.

They’ll be joining us in LA to share their experience, creative process, and journey through some of the biggest productions in the industry.

It’s always hard to wrap up a Screen Music Program edition, but this one was especially dear to us.

For the first time, we stepped into an artistic residency format in the Dolomites, and what an experience it was.

We had the privilege of working with an incredible roster of composers, bringing so much energy, curiosity, love, and empathy into the room. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better group to share this experience with.

A huge thank you to all the amazing people who helped make this edition so special.
