Marilee, NY40 from 1926, returns to Italy 🇮🇹
After a long period in the United States, Marilee, one of the very few surviving original examples of the New York 40 class, has returned to Italy thanks to Alessandra Angelini’s passion.
Designed by Nathanael G. Herreshoff and launched in 1926 by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. shipyard in Bristol (Rhode Island), Marilee represents a fundamental chapter in the history of international yachting.
Distinguished by her elegant lines and balanced proportions, the NY40 class – nicknamed at the time “the Fighting Forties” – was conceived to combine cruising comfort with competitive performance.
Marilee’s return to the Mediterranean marks an important event for the world of classic yachting and reflects the growing commitment to preserving vessels that have written the history of sailing.
