🎻 Behind the scenes of our opening night!

Fabrizio von Arx and Kirill Troussov, together with the Ensemble Amici di Casa Stradivari and the Trio Debussy, getting ready for “La Casa Stradivari di Cremona a Pietrasanta”.

Before the first concert of our 20th edition, there was the empty Chiostro di Sant’Agostino, instruments being tuned, rehearsals and a lot of shared energy backstage.

🎻 Martha Argerich & Friends - the grand finale

🎶 A week has passed since the festival came to an end. On the 2nd of August, a sold-out Chiostro di Sant’Agostino closed our 20th anniversary in the best way possible!

🎵 On stage with Martha Argerich: pianist Akane Sakai, Lyda Chen-Argerich on viola, Jing Zhao on cello, and violinists Michael Guttman and Julian Kainrath.

🌙 Tango Under the Stars

🎶 The 1st of August didn’t end with “Martha Argerich and Friends”: when the lights of the cloister dimmed, the festival kept going late into the night with the Guttman Tango Quintet, in a crossover between classical melodies and Argentine rhythms.

🎵 Michael Guttman (violin), Lysandre Donoso (bandoneon), Ivo De Greef (piano), Stijn Kuppens (cello) and Ariel Eberstein (double bass).

💿 It was also a first taste of From Another World, the quintet’s debut album, released the very next day: tango re-imaginings of Beethoven, Mozart, Mahler and Dvořák, arranged by Chloé Pfeiffer.

🎻 Martha Argerich & Friends

🎶 The first of our two closing nights brought Martha Argerich back to the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino, surrounded by some of her artistic family, in a programme that moved through Beethoven, Bloch, Pärt and Shostakovich.

🎵 On stage with her: pianists Akane Sakai and Gabriele Baldocci, Michael Guttman on violin and Jing Zhao on cello.

🙏 Thank you to all of them, and to everyone who lived that magical night with us!

🎶 On the 1st of August, the festival opened once again to the next generation: the young cellists of the masterclasses, guided by their teachers David Geringas, Jing Zhao and Alexander Chaushian, brought us some of the most beloved pages of the repertoire - Bach, Shostakovich, Dvořák, Boccherini, Grieg, Schumann and Prokofiev.

🎵 In the Church of San Biagio e Sant’Antonio Abate, we heard Francesco Orestano, Chuzhang Huang, Leona Xinrui Leng, Xuanhan Xu, Elisabeth Yunqi Zhang, Hannah Yige Gao, Guanxing Wang, Canyu Zhang and violinist Yaozhang Wang, with Monica Cattarossi at the piano.

🌟 A breathtaking, sold-out finale at the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino for “Martha Argerich and Friends”: Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony, Debussy’s Cello Sonata and Schumann’s Piano Quintet, played by an unforgettable circle of friends and artists: the legendary Martha Argerich alongside Akane Sakai, Michael Guttman, Julian Kainrath, Lyda Chen-Argerich and Jing Zhao.

🎉 And so our 20th anniversary edition comes to a close. Twenty years of music without borders, of friendships and unforgettable nights.
