International Thoracic Oncology Symposium

The Symposium was born in 2014 by the initiative of Dr. Marco Scarci, Director of the complex department of Thoracic Surgery at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, and, after 4 editions in England and one in Monza, it will be held in Milan in a completely revolutionized format. Under the name of International Thoracic Oncology Symposium, it is proposed to no longer be just an event for thoracic surgeons but a real catalyst for the best professionals worldwide in the treatment of all-round lung cancer.

"The symposium is a privileged place to discuss the most recent lung cancer prevention and treatment strategies in an interactive and multidisciplinary manner" - says Dr. Marco Scarci. "The event is of absolute importance on the international scene: it is a great satisfaction for Italy to succeed as a European country in organizing a course that deepens the subject with an approach involving such prestigious specialists"

"The battle against lung cancer has yet to be won because still few patients can be operated on at the time of diagnosis and surgery is not always a guarantee of recovery" - says Dr. Federico Raveglia, Scientific Director of the International Thoracic Oncology Symposium. "We believe the improvement of early diagnosis on one hand and an approach that involves the collaboration of surgeons, oncologists, pulmonologists and radiotherapists on the other, are the weapons on which to focus. To be precise, for this reason, the Symposium has been presented with an innovative format, which allows the direct comparison of the major specialists in the field and traces the future of the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to lung cancer ".
