WE è un progetto di Expo 2015, con Ministero degli Affari Esteri e Fondazione Mondadori. L’obiettivo? Dar vita a un network di donne di tutto il mondo, invitandole ad esprimersi sui temi dell’alimentazione e del diritto al cibo. Saranno artiste, scrittrici, grandi personalità, ma anche donne comuni. Tutte possono essere parte di WE. In che modo? Scrivendo
la loro “ricetta del cuore”, la loro “ricetta per la vita”. Non un piatto qualunque, ma un nutrimento speciale, che ha valore per sé, per la propria famiglia, città, storia. E che vale la pena di condividere con tutte le donne del mondo. WE AMBASSADOR
Le donne del mondo, di ogni cultura e Paese, sono invitate a partecipare a WE. Fra loro, le figure di spicco della letteratura e della scienza, dell’arte e della politica, dell’imprenditoria e della comunicazione, sono chiamate a diventare Ambasciatrici WE. LA TAVOLA DEL MONDO
La tavola planetaria che inaugurerà Expo2015
Il 1° maggio 2015, un grande evento planetario. Le organizzatrici saranno le ambasciatrici di WE in tutto il mondo: artiste, scienziate, protagoniste della società civile, aderenti a Ong e Associazioni. Tutte unite per creare un evento unico. Quel giorno, tutte insieme siederanno a tavola, ovunque siano, collegate con Expo Milano via tv e via web. Una tavolata che abbraccerà il pianeta intero, alla quale saranno invitate persone comuni e celebrità. Ogni donna porterà un piatto dalla propria vita, tramandato dalla propria storia e lo condividerà con tutti gli altri. Così sarà inaugurata EXPO 2015. Sarà una festa globale, conviviale, fatta di emozioni semplici, ma proiettata su maxi schermi, creata per presentare agli occhi del mondo un grande simbolo comune. Un grande WE. L’opera d’arte collettiva ispirata al nutrimento
L’arte è di tutti. Non sta mai da sola. Ed è la sua vocazione naturale rivolgersi agli altri, unire le emozioni della gente. Proprio come il cibo. Per tutte le artiste del mondo sarà naturale essere parte di WE. Così, un gruppo di creative internazionali sarà chiamato da Expo 2015 a realizzare qualcosa di unico che sia dedicato ai suoi temi. Un momento espressivo irripetibile, perché condiviso. Sarà la prima istallazione multimediale e multisensoriale ispirata al nutrimento. Si tratterà di un percorso straordinario, fatto di musica e di recitazione, di arte, ma anche di sapori e profumi. Poi, quando Expo 2015 sarà finito, diventerà un regalo speciale per la città di Milano. Un inno femminile alla convivenza, dedicato al cibo e alla sostenibilità. Un’ opera sensoriale. Un luogo magico che dice WE. IL ROMANZO DEL MONDO
Il gesto del nutrirsi raccontato dai quattro angoli della terra
Ci sarà molto da vivere, da vedere, da scrivere. Per questo, in tutti i Paesi partecipanti a Expo 2015, le donne scrittrici saranno coinvolte. E sarà chiesto loro di partecipare al romanzo più plurale di sempre. Nascerà un romanzo scritto da un numero infinito di mani, tutte autorevoli, tutte uniche a modo loro. Sarà una grande narrazione mondiale sul cibo, fatta di racconti brevi, di memorie, di emozioni profonde. Emozioni legate al cibo, capaci di farci vivere ogni volta una cultura differente. Lo chiameremo “Il romanzo del mondo”. Il gesto del nutrirsi, raccontato dai quattro angoli della Terra, diventerà il modo primario per conoscere gli altri. E tutti questi racconti, insieme, comporranno un esperimento unico di memoria collettiva. Un altro modo per dire WE. Per scrivere WE. Per leggere WE. LA CARTA DELLE DONNE
La 10 idee-guida che verranno consegnate alle Nazioni Unite
Quando WE avrà completato il suo ciclo, sarà solo l’inizio. Non resterà solo il Romanzo del mondo o l’Opera d’arte collettiva, non rimarrà solo il ricordo di esperienze live senza precedenti come quella della Tavola del mondo. Da questa stagione nascerà un gruppo di esperte, ambasciatrici e testimonial femminili che sono state unite da un grande tema, e resteranno portatrici di valori umani profondamente innovativi. Dall’esperienza di WE nascerà una Carta di 10 idee-guida che parleranno al mondo di un’economia più umana, di nuove politiche agricole e ambientali. Riflettendo, proponendo nuovi approcci, indicando soluzioni.
È così che da WE nasceranno altri WE, in un contagio benevolo, prolungato nel tempo.

WE - Women for Expo is an Expo 2015 project
Expo Milano 2015 is the most important international event to be hosted by Italy in the coming years: the objective is to engage the participating countries (more than 130) and its national and international audience in the theme of the Universal Exposition Feeding the Planet. Energy for Life. Synergies will be activated with the various players in every nation, from international organizations to civil society, from the scientific and business community to the core partners. Expo 2015 will be dedicated to one of the decisive issues for the future of humankind. It will be a gigantic research laboratory receiving projects and ideas from all corners of the globe, and an ideal platform for continuing discussions and sharing solutions. IT IS TIME TO SAY WE
WE stands for Women for Expo. But it is not just an abbreviation. WE is a word full of people. A word rich in the will to get things done, in responsibility and sharing. Saying WE is the first step toward a world united by shared objectives, in which all must find nourishment. No one is excluded. Saying WE means transforming the commitment of all into a huge shared asset. It means learning to speak in the plural. Women know how to do it. They will be the ones to explain it to the world. In this tiny book you can discover the story and the soul of a project that will unite women all over the planet.women that will act together in order to achieve the affirmation of our universal right to access to food. And you will understand why we now say, "We, the future". WHAT IS WE
WE is an EXPO 2015 project produced in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Arnoldo and Alberto Mondadori Foundation. WE speaks about food, obviously. About nutrition. And it does it by centring on one of the most precious resources we have: women's culture. Every woman is the custodian of practices, rules and ancient heritage that give her the ability to nurture others. Today, in our changed world, this memory, this deep-rooted knowledge, becomes a means for showing the world what it means to care…
…not only for ourselves, but also for others. And not just for people, but also for our environment. To care for the future. We will discover what it means to get by with what we have, respect diversity and shared institutions, our bodies and our minds. We will understand why women's culture can truly become the means for progressing. Thanks to WE, women from Expo 2015 participating countries will be invited to collaborate in a choral initiative and form a network: WE-net. They will be artists, writers, celebrities and also women from less prominent walks of life, who may live on the other side of the world or right there in your town. All women can be part of WE. And as you will see in the following pages, there will be many ways to say WE. THE WORLD AROUND THE TABLE
Take note: it will happen on 1 May 2015. The organizers will be the WE ambassadors throughout the world: women artists, scientists, leaders of civil society, members of NGOs and associations. All women united to create a truly unique event. On that day, all at the same time, women all over the world will sit down at the table, wherever they are, connected to Expo Milano via TV or Web. A table that will encircle and embrace the entire planet, where all will sit together, celebrities and the less-well-known. Each woman will bring a dish from her own life, passed on through her own personal history, and will share it with all the others. Thus will EXPO 2015 be inaugurated. It will be a global, convivial gathering celebrating of simple emotions but projected onto jumbo screens. It will be created to present a grand shared symbol to the eyes of the world. A grand WE. THE NOVEL OF THE WORLD
There will be much to see, to experience, to write. And all women writers in Expo 2015 participating countries will have a chance to get involved. They will be asked to participate in the most many-authored book of all time. A novel will be born that is written by a virtually infinite number of hands, all estimable, each unique in her own way. It will be a grand world narrative of food. It will be composed of short stories, tales, recollections and deep emotions. Emotions associated with food, allowing us to experience a different culture each time. We will call it "The Novel of the World ". The gesture of eating and feeding, told from the four corners of the earth, will become the prime mode of getting to know others. And all these stories together will represent a unique experiment in collective memory. Another way to say WE. To write WE. To read WE. INGREDIENTS FOR LIFE
Each one of us has her own way of being part of WE. Because each one of us has her own special relationship with food. That is why every woman, from each culture and each country, whatever it is she does in life or whatever her history has been, can take part in WE, presenting something she has always known: a dish. But no ordinary dish. It must be a special recipe, a recipe that has a special value in her family or in her town. Another journey through memory and cultural identity. A journey bringing back riches for everyone. Because each woman's recipe will not simply be presented and placed in the common arena. They will be placed, one by one, in the WE collection, creating a bona fide world-scale document of personal and public culture. An archive of emotions. A collection that will be conserved for the future, like a legacy that is too precious to be lost. Valuable to all. For anyone who one day wants to go on saying WE. GLOBAL CREATIVE THINKING
Art is for everyone. It is never alone. Its natural vocation is to address others, unite people on the emotional level. Just like food. For all women artists of the world, it will be natural to be a part of WE. Hence, when a group of creative minds from all over the world is called by Expo 2015 to create something unique that is dedicated to its themes, it will be an expressive moment like no other. It will be the first multimedia and multi-sensory installation inspired by nourishment. It will be an extraordinary ensemble, comprising music and theatre, art but also flavours and scents. Then, after Expo 2015 is over, it will be a special gift to the city of Milan. It will be a feminine anthem to coexistence, dedicated to food and to sustainability. A sensory masterpiece. A magical place that says WE. AFTER WE, WE AGAIN. When WE completes its first cycle, it will only be the beginning. We will not just be left with the World Novel or the collective work of art, we will not be left merely with the memory of unprecedented live experiences such as the World Table. This period will produce a group of women experts, ambassadors and testimonials united by a grand theme, and they will continue to be bearers of profoundly innovative human values in the world. The WE experience will give rise to a Charter with 10 guiding ideas that will speak to the world of a more humane economy, of new agricultural and environmental policies. Reflecting, proposing new approaches, pointing out solutions. Thus WE will give birth to other WEs, in a benevolent contagion, prolonged through time. A grand story. One that can finally begin. Because it will be women who make it begin.
