𝗖𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻, legendary singer and mother of 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻, who had just celebrated her 91st birthday on September 30th, closed her eyes seven days after her birthday to join her beloved daughter 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 and granddaughter 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻. How much suffering fate reserved for her in outliving them.
A pivotal figure in the history of gospel and soul music, yet little known to the general public, she was a source of inspiration for many artists. She had an extraordinary career, winning two Grammy Awards and collaborating with music legends. Cissy dedicated her life not only to music but also to her family, guiding and supporting 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆 throughout her stellar career and during her most difficult moments.
Her powerful voice left an indelible mark on gospel music, and her impact as a mother and mentor to one of the greatest voices of all time,𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻, will continue to be remembered with deep respect.

𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒔, an artist who in the 1960s, with the group 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀, played a significant role in the success of Detroit's 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, the artist's hometown. Although her voice was not the most powerful in the group, Diana Ross stood out as a leader due to her refined voice and to her elegance style. In 1970, she embarked on a highly successful solo career, with memorable songs including '𝗔𝗶𝗻'𝘁 𝗡𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵,' featured in the posted video, and others throughout the '70s and '80s. In 1980, 𝗡𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, the two founding members of 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰, produced Diana Ross's album titled '𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮,' which is considered one of the most iconic works in her career and marked a shift in her musical style, leaning more towards disco and dance music. Among the most iconic tracks produced are '𝗨𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻,' '𝗜'𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝘁,' 𝗮𝗻𝗱 '𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.' Her collaboration with Motown, and later with Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, solidified Diana Ross as a music legend. On August 9, 1963, 60 years ago, one of the most marvelous voices of all time came into the world: Whitney Houston, known as "The Voice." Her talent seemed sculpted by destiny, inheriting the gift of music from her mother, Cissy Houston, a renowned gospel singer and backing vocalist for icons like Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Dionne Warwick, and Chaka Khan, just to name a few.

Growing up in an environment immersed in music undoubtedly contributed to bringing forth her extraordinary talent. However, credit shouldn't solely be attributed to her family heritage. As in any professional field, to achieve perfection, Whitney had to invest an incredible amount of energy and dedication in developing her voice, making it crystal clear, powerful, and cultivating a unique vibrato. Undoubtedly, it was this relentless commitment that led her to the well-deserved success she achieved; of course, her innate beauty and stage presence played a significant role in her rise to fame.

It's also worth mentioning the important role played by the legendary record producer Clive Davis, who recognized the extraordinary potential of the young Whitney at that time, contributing to spreading and gifting the world with performances that will remain written in the history of music. Like the memorable performance on February 7, 1994, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles during the 21st edition of the American Music Awards, where she delivered an extraordinary medley showcasing an unmatched mastery of her voice: "I Loves You, Porgy" - "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" - "I Have Nothing."

Happy listening to everyone!

Singer, poet, and songwriter Jill Scott burst onto the neosoul/R&B scene in a blaze of glory following the release of her double-platinum-selling debut album, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds, Vol. 1, in 2000. RollingStone.com writer Toure called Scott "the premier female romantic voice of the neosoul era." The notoriously down-to-earth Philadelphia native found herself awash in Grammy Award nominations, appearing onstage with soul diva Aretha Franklin on VH-1, and opening for rock star Sting on his North American tour. But the sudden onslaught of success did not go to her head. Writer Clarence Waldron summed it up in Jet when he declared: "Jill Scott is as real and honest as her down-home soul music. She is well-grounded and down-to-earth--despite her newfound stardom."
