💬 What is AI telling travellers about your destination?

The answer may be shaped by what travellers themselves say online.

As AI platforms draw on reviews, social media and other user-generated content to answer travel questions, online reputation is becoming an increasingly important part of destination visibility.

It’s no longer just about being found. It’s about understanding the story AI is telling about your destination, and what’s driving it.

Our latest article explores why reviews matter in AI search, and how destinations can turn them into an opportunity to strengthen their visibility and reputation.

Learn how reviews shape what AI says about your destination, what you can do about it, and how to understand whether it's working or not.

While the escalation of the Iran-US conflict in February triggered an immediate shock to travel sentiment and hotel demand, subsequent developments appear to have had a more limited impact.

As conditions stabilised, demand showed signs of recovery, suggesting that travellers may be progressively recalibrating their perception of regional risk.

Strong air connectivity, diversified source markets and established tourism ecosystems could help support this recovery. At the same time, growing travel demand from Asia presents a further opportunity for GCC destinations in the months ahead.

But how resilient has demand really been, and what do the latest data tell us about the GCC’s recovery potential through the end of 2026?

Learn more in our latest analysis. ⬇️

A major event can do more than attract visitors: it can reshape tourism flows, extend the season and create new opportunities for destinations.

⛵ Sardinia is a clear example. In May 2026, the island hosted the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Preliminary Regatta Sardinia – the first event on the – bringing one of the world’s most prestigious sailing competitions to the Gulf of Angels in Cagliari and placing the spotlight on a destination traditionally associated with summer tourism.

But beyond the spectacle, what impact did the event actually generate?

To answer this question, we analysed, in collaboration with our travel spend intelligence partner Mastercard, how the event impacted key aspects of destination performance.

Destination choice is no longer just about the place. It's increasingly shaped by the experience travellers want to have.

Concerts, sporting events, festivals and cultural moments are becoming primary travel motivations, influencing where people go and when.

This shift is redefining how destinations compete for visitors, moving strategy away from simply promoting a place, and toward creating the kind of experiences that generate lasting value.

Our CMO, Carlos Cendra, explored this shift with fellow industry experts in a recent LinkedIn Live hosted by

Fueled by pop culture, sports, and social media, travelers are increasingly picking the experience first and then letting that dictate the destination.
