🎨 How do you turn precision into art?

“Incisioni” — from the Italian word for engravings — is the fine art technique that allows artists to create detailed works that remain faithful to the original, copy after copy.

To achieve such precision, the choice of paper is essential: it must absorb the ink beautifully and make every print stand out.

Incisioni paper is made of 50% cotton and 50% high alpha cellulose, mould made, with internal sizing only.
Its balance of softness and strength makes it ideal for all printmaking techniques, especially etching. ✒️

✅ 100% Made in Italy.

👑 By the 18th century, Magnani papers were already travelling across Europe — chosen by royal families and national mints who trusted our cylinder mould machines to produce papers of unmatched quality and security.

Over the years, Magnani sheets have carried not only seals and crests, but also the marks of creativity. Masters such as Picasso, De Chirico, Guttuso, Annigoni, Morandi and writers like D’Annunzio and Giusti entrusted Magnani with the creation of their own customised papers — each one a distinctive signature of their art. ✒️

Magnani 1404 was born from the legacy of one of the world’s oldest paper mills, rooted in the heart of Tuscany. Our story began in the 15th century, when the first settlers built their mill along the Pescia river — celebrated for its crystal-clear waters, the very essence of fine papermaking.

For over six centuries, those waters and our hands have shaped fibers into paper, carrying with them the patience of time, the precision of craft, and the spirit of creativity. Each sheet we make is not just paper, but a fragment of history — ready to become part of new stories, artworks, and ideas. 🌿✨

🎨 Maestro Pietro Annigoni, nicknamed “the painter of queens” for his portraits of illustrious figures such as Queen Elizabeth II, was a versatile artist who mastered different styles and techniques. It was precisely this versatility that led him to collaborate with Magnani’s master papermakers to create a paper worthy of his art.

The Annigoni paper, developed in close partnership with the Maestro and used for his own studies, is made 100% from cotton. Its natural rough surface is especially indicated for charcoal, sanguine and pastel, and it can also be treated with natural mediums like rabbit glue.

✅ This paper is 100% Made in Italy.
