Carolina Reapers

ENG - Carolina Reapers were formed in Piedmont at the end of 2019, born from the meeting of four very different musicians brought together by their shared love for the raw, vintage sounds of Rock and Roll and Rockabilly. From the very beginning, the band chose to adopt the classic rockabilly lineup (vocals, guitar, drums, and slap double bass). After a few live shows, the band was forced to stop due to Covid, but after a year of mandatory hiatus, they returned to performing live. Within a few years, the group played extensively across Northern Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, performing dozens of concerts. During their small tours, the Carolina Reapers also took part in major festivals such as Volks n Roll (AO), Bolle di Malto (BI), Reload Sound Festival (BI), Rollin' Dudes (AUT), and Royal Rockers (CH). Their setlist features classic ‘50s Rock & Roll/Rockabilly songs, as well as many reinterpretations of much more modern tracks (Metallica, Ramones, Pantera, Marilyn Manson, Eurythmics, Offspring, Gorillaz, Britney Spears, and many others). At the beginning of 2024, the band released their first EP, All Day Everyday, All Night Everynight. Recorded and released entirely independently, the EP includes two original tracks and two covers. It is influenced by major acts such as Stray Cats, Reverend Horton Heat, and Hormonauts. The EP title is a tribute to Shane MacGowan (The Pogues), who passed away a few months before its release. In a famous interview, Shane was asked, “How much do you drink per day?” and he replied, “I drink all day everyday, all night everynight.”

The EP was reviewed by Italian producer/DJ Antonio Bacciocchi (Statuto, Not Moving), who described the Carolina Reapers as a “punkabilly band with a Black and soul voice”—a definition the band is very proud of.

✒️ The Piedmont-based band bursts onto the scene with a four-track EP driven by a high-speed punkabilly sound that hits like a train. Whether in the first two tracks, where they showcase skilled songwriting and great energy, or in the two covers—successfully reworked and completely transformed—such as “Enter Sandman” by Metallica and “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics, the result is striking. A “black & soul” female voice, a tight and flawless band: they entertain and hit hard. Outstanding!

After summer 2024, the band underwent a lineup change, welcoming Jacopo (drums) and Paolo (double bass). With renewed energy, they began writing new material with the goal of producing a full-length LP and finding a label to collaborate with. ITA - I Carolina Reapers nascono in Piemonte verso la fine del 2019 dall’incontro di quattro musicisti molto diversi tra loro ma accomunati dall’amore per le sonorità grezze e vintage del Rock and Roll e del Rockabilly. Il gruppo decide fin da subito di proporre la classica formazione rockabilly (Voce, chitarra, batteria e contrabbasso slappato)

Dopo qualche live la band viene fermata dal Covid ma dopo un anno di Stop forzato riprende con i live. Nel giro di qualche anno il gruppo si propone dal vivo in molti contesti con decine di concerti in Nord Italia, Svizzera e Austria. Durante i piccoli tour i CR si inseriscono anche in festival importanti quali Volks n Roll (AO), Bolle di Malto (BI), Reload Sound Festival (BI), Rollin' Dudes (AUT) e Royal Rockers (CH)

In scaletta vengono presentati classici del Rock & Roll/Rockabilly anni ‘50 e anche molte rivisitazioni di classici molto più moderni (Metallica, Ramones, Pantera, Marylin Manson, Eurythmics, Offspring, Gorillaz, Britney Spears e vari altri)

All’inizio del 2024 il gruppo produce il suo primo EP All Day Everyday, All Night Everynight. Registrato e pubblicato in maniera totalmente indipendente, l’EP raccoglie due inediti e due cover. Influenzato da grandi nomi quali Stray Cats, Reverend Horton Heat e Hormonauts. Il titolo dell’EP è un omaggio a Shane Mc Gowan (Pogues) che se ne andò qualche mese prima dell’uscita dell’EP. A Shane in una famosa intervista venne chiesto “How much do you drink per day?” e lui rispose “I Drink All Day Everyday, All Night Everynight”

E’ stato recensito dal produttore/DJ italiano Antonio Bacciocchi (Statuto, Not Moving) con le seguenti parole definendo i CAROLINA REAPERS una “band Punkabilly con una voce Black e Soul” (definizione per la quale la band va molto orgogliosa)

Dopo l’estate 2024 la band ha un cambio di formazione, si inseriscono Jacopo (batteria) e Paolo (contrabbasso) e con la nuova energia ritrovata inizia la composizione di nuovi brani nell’ottica di arrivare a produrre un LP e trovare un’ etichetta con la quale collaborare.
