Composer and pianist Damiano Ferretti’s artistic practice revolves around the reactivation of historical memory through sound. His work moves between contemporary composition, film music and interdisciplinary performance, with a strong focus on historical memory and collective processes.
ᴅᴀᴍɪᴀɴᴏ'ꜱ ᴅᴇᴛᴀɪʟꜱ 📋
Born in Bologna (IT) in 1999, Damiano Ferretti is an artist whose work bridges historical sound worlds and contemporary practices. His music and performances have been presented by major festivals and institutions across Italy and Europe, including Ravenna Festival, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, Biennale Musica and Biennale Cinema di Venezia. His activity includes commissions for ensemble music and live orchestral soundtracks for restored silent films, including Nosferatu (1922), Häxan (1922) and The Phantom Of The Opera (1925).
Selected for the pre-PhD course in Musicology at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, with a research focused on the recomposition of acoustic traces of ancient theatres, he has been actively involved in curatorial and artistic direction projects since 2024, contributing to cross-disciplinary productions that connect music, theatre, electronics and sound worlds with present-day artistic research.
