KCN Statement for International Children’s Day
On the anniversary of Children’s International Day, children in most of the world’s countris
celebrate the occasion. Our organization congratulates Iraq’s and the world’s children, hopes that
they are happy, in peace and all their rights will realize. Thus, we pay respect to martyrs, their
relatives and children.
Government Officials
Children are little human beings, the future and the leader of the country. That’s why, it is
necessery for them to have a calm environment and a modern education. They shoud not be
discriminated. It is KRG’s responsibility, depending on Convention on the Right’s of Children, to
protect the children in Kurdistan Region. We should also support Kurdistan Parliament to raise
their issues.
Parents and Educatiors
Education and guiding the children in their words and behaviour starts with parents and
educators. Hence, they are supposed to bring up children for the humanity through love and
protection in order that their future be filled with generosity, Peace and tolerance. The childre
on their part, while growing, respond with more attention to the country, their educators and
parents.
Protectors of Rights
Today, in KR-I, so many children have become refugees or displaced along with their parents and
relatives. They have to be dealt with as children and their rights be guaranteed. This is also
expected from all countries in general and KRG in particular. Respecting the children’s rights,
keeping peace and maintaing security can not be fulfilled without a consistent, healthy and fair
development.
Let’s all confront the violations conducted against children which is our individual moral, political
and social responsibility. We express our gratitude to INGOs and expect more cooperaion from
civil society NGOs and chilrden related organizations specificly so we can realize children’s rights,
social cohesion and keeping away from violence.
