Big Update for Engineering Aspirants: IISc Joins JoSAA!
The prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, is officially joining the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process for its B.Tech. admissions starting from the academic year 2026-27.

Previously, IISc conducted its own separate admissions process for its B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing program based on JEE Advanced scores, which led to many eligible students missing the application deadline.

Key Details:
Admissions Basis: Seats will be allocated based on JEE Advanced 2026 ranks.
Streamlined Process: Candidates no longer need to fill out a separate application form for IISc; the process is now integrated with the common JoSAA portal, alongside admissions for all IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs.
Total Seats: The B.Tech. program has 52 seats available.
Advantage for High Rankers: This change is expected to particularly benefit top-ranking students from regions like the Telugu states, offering them another premier option alongside the older IITs.
This move simplifies the application journey, ensuring students can compare top institutes on a single platform and reducing the stress of managing multiple deadlines.
