Under the dynamic leadership of Principal Mr. Mohammad Saleem Mir, Government Boys Higher Secondary School Uri organised a first-of-its-kind trekking programme to the scenic Na**la Waterfall.The event was organised with the aim of creating environmental awareness, promoting eco-tourism, encouraging physical fitness, and developing a spirit of adventure and teamwork among students.

*Legal Literacy Programme held at BHSS Uri*

Today on April 25, 2026 A Legal Literacy Programme was successfully organized by The Central University of Kashmir in collaboration with The District Legal Services Authority Baramull at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Uri. The programme aimed to enhance awareness among students about their legal rights, duties, and the importance of legal education in everyday life.

The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Mahmud Anwar Al-Nasir Sub-Judge Court (Civil Judge Senior Division) Uri , Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Head and Dean, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir; Mr. Mohammad Saleem Mir, Principal BHSS Uri; faculty members from Central University of Kashmir; faculty members of BHSS Uri; law students from CUK; and a large gathering of students from BHSS Uri. The programme created an engaging platform for interaction between legal experts and students, fostering awareness about the significance of legal literacy in shaping responsible citizens.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address, wherein the significance of legal literacy in empowering youth was highlighted. Various speakers addressed the gathering and spoke at length about the importance of understanding basic legal provisions, constitutional rights, and responsibilities of citizens. The speakers emphasized that awareness of law is essential for safeguarding individual rights and promoting justice in society.

Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Head and Dean, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir, while speaking on the occasion, delivered an insightful and comprehensive address. He discussed various contemporary legal issues and highlighted the growing need for collaboration between academic institutions and schools to bridge the gap between legal knowledge and public awareness. He stressed that legal literacy programmes play a vital role in enabling students to understand their rights, responsibilities, and the functioning of the legal system. *Intensified Drive under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan at Uri*

Uri, April 2026: In a firm and determined step towards eradicating drug abuse, an intensive awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan was conducted by the Block Medical Officer Uri in collaboration with Government Boys Higher Secondary School Uri and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (Uri).

The programme sent a strong and uncompromising message against substance abuse, declaring zero tolerance for drugs in the community. Officials emphasized that drug addiction is not only a health hazard but a serious social evil that threatens the future of youth and the stability of society.

Health experts categorically highlighted the severe physical, psychological, and economic consequences of drug abuse, while police officials warned of strict legal action against those involved in drug-related activities. *Cluster Head BHSS Uri conducted academic inspection of various institutions*

Today on April 8, 2026 Cluster Head BHSS Uri Mr. Mohammad Saleem Mir visited BMS Dawaran and GPS Dawaran to inspect academic activities and overall functioning of the institutions.
During the visit, he interacted with the teaching staff and students, reviewed classroom teaching, checked students’ notebooks, and assessed the progress of syllabus coverage. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline, ensuring regular attendance, and adopting innovative teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
