Along with other 20 districts of Assam,Tinsukia is also celebrating the biggest river festival of India "Namami Brahmaputra Festival" from 31st March,2017 to 4th April,2017 at Hatighuli,Dhola,Tinsukia."Namami Brahmaputra" means obeisance to the mighty river ,Brahmaputra. Tinsukia with its pristine beauty,scenic tea gardens,wildlife,biosphere reserve,oil industry and coal fields holds great tourism & industrial potential which is to be showcased in the global arena through this festival.

Assam has been known traditionally as a land full of games and sports since the time of the Ahom kingdom or even before. Traditional Games and Sports are part of our cultural heritage and local identity. But, the rise of the international sports movement has caused Traditional Games and Sports to fall behind or even disappear. So, this is a initiative taken through the platform "Namami Brahmaputra" to bring it back to life again.
Although it is beyond our grasp to encompass the entire range of traditional sports, it is our modest effort to present before you some indigenous sports in which you are most humbly invited to grace the event by spectating and participating as well.
