🌞Summer is here and we’ve got some new music courses for you to explore!

🎻5 of our most experienced Kalabhumi Music Studio members are available to help you learn the music instrument you always wanted to explore, guide you on the path of music theory understanding, deepen your relationship with creating or expressing musically while making it fun and accessible around Auroville.

💻Both one-on-one and group classes are available and all you need to do is apply through the QR code and fill the form we prepared. The questionnaire replies you’ll submit will guide us to find of the right course match and we will shortlist each candidate for an in-person chat!

💯We look forward to your joining our educational program to support you on your music journey!

🎧5 months of “Sonic Journeys” music appreciation events, went by so fast! Early April we had over 30 of you visiting for Gandharva incredible music presentation, and look forward to welcoming many more of you to attend this Friday night appointment featuring Dhani and Raul!

🔊We'll be looking at how music and language are deeply connected in the nature of their expression in several different styles by listening to a selection of songs that include artists like Miles Davis, Weather Report, Chuck Berry, Charles Mingus, Hermeto Pascoal and The Band.

🥁🎸The presenters will be giving a couple of demonstrations on how speech can be transcribed into music and the importance of storytelling in improvisational music.

⏰We request you to be on time, for your own enjoyment of the music presentation and to avoid any disturbance to the session in progress.

🌞 Summer vibes mode ON? KGL is back, and plans to make your Saturday night under the stars a treat for you all!

🎸 This outdoors event will bring together a number of accomplished local Auroville musicians offering a diverse 2 h long performance, spanning genres and decades of legendary western music.

🍕🍹 freshly made pizzas by Off-Grid Bakery and Vishnu's refreshments, will surely be a hit… Make sure to come with your family and friends!

🎷mini KGL is on a roll! Summertime has never been this active and filled with musical and cultural events before at our studio.

🌟 This Saturday evening Kalabhumi Music Studio will host “pause.dxa”, an experiential sound immersion project led by our friends Sahitya and Harsh.

🪐Weaving together sound textures both traditional and progressive, featuring the centerpiece of Dhrupad vocal improvisation (alaap) and the backdrop of expansive synth drone and electronic soundscapes in support, they offer a unique music performance which engulfs the senses with its peaceful nature and depth.

Sunday night we host our fourth “Sonic Journeys” appointment, featuring Shanks Kini!

🔊This session will be centred around selected recordings of Hindustani music Maverick, Pandit Kumar Gandharva.

🎧“Sonic Journeys” is a music and album appreciation event started this January 2026. These culturally-rich sessions will help expand your knowledge of music history, arts, recording techniques, arrangement, composition and learn of the great performances captured on recordings in legendary studios or live stages.

🎷Mini Kalabhumi Goes Live is your chance to see authentic live music around Auroville, while seated in a premium sound-proof and air-conditioned music studio venue!

🎤This Saturday night we invited our talented friend Ronny to perform his varied set of tunes, bringing the authentic singer-songwriter vibe back to our stage.

🩵That’s actually how it all started 8 years ago, and since we feel traditions matter, we plan to offer many more of such intimate limited-seats shows in the coming weeks!

Kalabhumi Music Studio’s Music Teaching Academy presents our first workshop of 2026: Creative Rhythm with Shanks Kini!

The workshop;
This is a hands-on workshop in discovering inner rhythm, language and spontaneity, with easy to play instruments. Participants explore their innate ability to compose and perform in a fun, guided and interactive group session. No musical training is required.

The facilitator;
Shanks Kini (b.1978) is a music producer, performer and music coach. He has worked in the Mumbai music industry for 8 years. He trained in Hindustani Classical Music as a child. He plays several instruments and explores jazz, Indian and western classical music. He is Mangalorean Konkani by origin, grew up in Bangalore and worked in Mumbai before coming to Auroville in 2015.
