The Jammu & Kashmir Atya Patya Association successfully convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the Circuit House, Church Lane, Srinagar, with distinguished participation from members, office bearers, and key stakeholders dedicated to the promotion and development of Atya Patya across the Union Territory.

On this prestigious occasion, the Association proudly announced the nomination of Mr. Mubarak Gul (MLA Eidgah, Srinagar & Former Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly) as the Chief Patron of the Association. His vast administrative experience, visionary leadership, and commitment to public service are expected to provide exceptional guidance and strategic direction to the organization.

Further strengthening the leadership, Dr. Vinod Bakshi (Former Director of Physical Education, Gandhi College Jammu) has been nominated as the Chairman of the Association. His remarkable contribution to sports development and physical education will play a pivotal role in expanding the reach and impact of Atya Patya across Jammu & Kashmir.

In addition, Mr. Sahil Ahmad has been nominated as the Press Advisor of the Association. A prominent and respected name in the field of sports in Jammu & Kashmir, his experience and active involvement in sports promotion are expected to significantly enhance the Association’s outreach, media presence, and overall development initiatives.

The Association expressed firm confidence that under the esteemed leadership of the Chief Patron and Chairman, along with the dedicated support of the Press Advisor, Atya Patya will achieve new milestones of recognition, excellence, and growth at both national and international levels.

The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks, reaffirming the Association’s collective commitment towards promoting sportsmanship, youth empowerment, and organizational excellence.

*District Anantnag Kudo Championship 2026 Concludes Successfully at Bijbehara*

The District Anantnag Kudo Championship 2026 was successfully organised by the District Anantnag Kudo Association under the aegis of the J&K Kudo Association.

The prestigious two-day championship was held on *5th and 6th May 2026 at the Indoor Sports Hall Bijbehara.* The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 250 players representing different areas of the district, while more than 300 spectators attended the championship and cheered for the young athletes.

The championship aimed to promote the martial art of Kudo among the youth and provide a competitive platform for budding athletes to showcase their talent, discipline, and sportsmanship.

The event was graced by distinguished guests from different fields. The *Chief Guest* on the occasion was *Bilal Ahmad Parray, Chairman-JKDF*. The *Guests of Honour* included *Hilal Ahmad Shah,Director-BOMIS, Anantnag, Nabeel Showkat, Chairman- Future X Coaching Center J&K, and Sarbaz Sajad, Chairman- District Budgam Kudo Association.*

During the championship, several institutions showcased remarkable performances. *BOMIS Anantnag secured the 1st position*, while *Oxford School Bijbehara achieved the 2nd position*. in the overall championship standings.

The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the organisers in conducting the championship successfully and praised the participants for their dedication and discipline. They also emphasised the importance of sports activities in guiding youth towards a healthy and positive lifestyle.

The organisers expressed gratitude to all officials, coaches, volunteers, participants, and supporters whose collective efforts made the championship a grand success.

Badminton Court Inaugurated at Police Housing Colony Bemina Srinagar

Reinforcing the spirit of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and promoting sports as a powerful instrument for building a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society, Sh. Anand Jain, IPS, ADG, Armed, J&K, today inaugurated a Badminton Court at Police Housing Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. The initiative reflects the department’s sustained commitment towards the welfare, fitness, and holistic well-being of Police personnel and their families, while encouraging constructive recreational engagement among youth.

On the occasion, Shri Junaid Mehmood, IPS, DIG IR Kashmir highlighted the vital role of sports in promoting physical fitness, relieving stress, and fostering discipline and teamwork. He observed that such initiatives provide a healthy platform for recreation and talent development while steering youth away from substance abuse towards positive and productive pursuits.

Emphasizing the objectives of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, he stated that the campaign seeks to eradicate drug abuse through awareness, community participation, and preventive outreach. The 10th National Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament and the 4th Kashmir Gold Cup 2026 are being organized by the National Sports Club in collaboration with Hockey Jammu & Kashmir and the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.

The National Champions Trophy Hockey will commence from 26.08.2026 and will be held at the prestigious Polo Ground Hockey Stadium and Amar Singh College in Srinagar, with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, national integration, and excellence in hockey.

In this regard, a preparatory online meeting was convened at Radisson Srinagar with members of the National Sports Club, Rajbagh, Srinagar, to review arrangements and ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the tournaments.

The events are expected to witness participation from leading teams and distinguished players from across the country, thereby providing a significant platform for the promotion and development of hockey in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

All necessary arrangements are being meticulously put in place to ensure the successful आयोजन of these prestigious tournaments.

Marathon Run Organized at headquarters zone R.S. Pura Jammu in Memory of Late Sh. Pranav Mahajan

A “Marathon Run” was successfully organized today on 26th April 2026 by Ranbir Singh Sports Club, R.S. Pura in memory of Late Sh. Pranav Mahajan, under the supervision of Sh. Punit Mahajan.

The event was flagged off at approximately 0520 hrs from Shaurya Resort, R.S. Pura by Sh. Sham Choudhary, former Minister, and Sh. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Hon’ble MLA, Suchetgarh.

The marathon route commenced from Shaurya Resort towards Octroi Post, Suchetgarh, with designated U-turn points at R.V Resort (5 km), Montessori Nirmal Dutt School (10 km), and Government Girls School, Basti Gulab Garh (21 km).

An initial gathering of around 100–150 participants was observed at the time of flag-off, which gradually increased to approximately 450–500 participants during the event. A total of 397 runners actively participated in the marathon, including 78 participants in the 21 km category, 111 in the 10 km category, and 208 in the 5 km category. All participants completed the run safely.
Sh. Sushant Anand, IG BSF, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners.

Winners of the Marathon:

21 km: Kuldeep Kumar (1st Position)
10 km: A***n Sharma (1st Position)
5 km (Under-18): Sunakshi Thakur (1st Position)

The event concluded peacefully with enthusiastic participation from the public, promoting fitness and community spirit used to build mental toughness, manage pain, and maintain focus during training and racing.
