*Hariganiwan, May 03:* The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zonal Physical Education Office Hariganiwan today successfully hosted a series of Inter-School Zonal Level sports competition, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students.
*Zone Hariganiwan* organized the Inter-School Volleyball Tournament for U17 Boys at HS Sumbal Bala. Over 70 students from different schools showcased their talent and team spirit. The final match featured BHSS Hariganiwan and the host school, with BHSS Hariganiwan clinching the title in a closely fought 2-1 victory. The Headmaster of HS Sumbal Bala Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Kallu presided over the prize distribution ceremony, felicitating both the finalists with trophies.
Overall the activities of today were a great success. The departmental officials who were assigned the duties the smooth conduct of the said activities performed their duties in a versatile manner and made today's activity programs a great success.

In *Zone Hariganiwan,* an exciting Football competition for Boys Under-17 was organized at BHSS Hariganiwan Ground. The event saw participation from 71 enthusiastic boys students representing various schools. Principal, BHSS Hariganiwan, along with the Activity Incharge, visited the venue to encourage the participants. *Ganderbal, April 10*: As part of the ongoing environmental awareness initiatives and in line with the vision of a greener and cleaner environment, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Zone Hariganiwan organized a comprehensive plantation drive at two prominent locations—BHSS Hariganiwan Ground and the departmental ground at Bagi-Surfraw.

The plantation drive witnessed active participation from staff members and students of BHSS Hariganiwan, along with field officials of YSS Zone Hariganiwan. The event was conducted in the esteemed presence of Mr. Ab Rashid Wani, Principal BHSS Hariganiwan, who appreciated the efforts of the department in fostering environmental consciousness among the youth. Ganderbal, Apr 09: Reinforcing its commitment to promoting sports and physical education among school children, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Ganderbal organized a vibrant array of sports events across the district today, including the Inter-Zone District Level Chess Championship and multiple inter-school football competitions at the zonal level.

The Inter-Zone District Level Chess Competition for Under-14 Boys and Girls was held at Boys High School Arch, Ganderbal.

Young minds from all four zones of the district displayed strategic prowess and sharp thinking as they competed on the chessboard.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the Headmistress of BHS Arch, along with senior officials from the department, felicitated the winners. The final standings were as follows:

**Cricket Match Promotes Voter Awareness under SVEEP Initiative in Ganderbal**

*Ganderbal, September 18 –*
A thrilling cricket match between District Administration XI and District Youth Services and Sports (YSS) XI was organized under the banner of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) initiative at the Government College of Physical Education, Gadoora, Ganderbal. The event was hosted by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Ganderbal, in collaboration with the District Election Officer Ganderbal to spread awareness about the importance of electoral participation.

District Administration XI, after winning the toss, opted to bat first in the 18-over game. The team managed to put up a score of 80 runs, with Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mr. Mohammad Altaf JKAS, delivering a standout performance, scoring 25 runs off just 10 balls. In response, YSS Ganderbal XI chased down the target comfortably in 10 overs, winning the match by 5 wickets.

The match was graced by the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, Shri Shyambir, IAS, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizers and praised the teams for their participation in such a meaningful event. The initiative was aimed at promoting voter education and encouraging citizens to participate actively in the democratic process, especially with the upcoming Assembly Elections.

During the presentation ceremony, Deputy District Election Officer Ganderbal, Shri Abid Iqbal Malik (JKAS), highlighted the significance of the SVEEP initiative, which focuses on increasing voter awareness and participation by engaging the public through various activities and events. He urged the local population to exercise their right to vote in the forthcoming elections.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shri Mohammad Altaf (JKAS), also spoke about the importance of voter participation and commended the organizers for the successful ex*****on of the event. He further extended his gratitude to the college administration for providing the venue and making the necessary arrangements.

Trophies were awarded to both the winning and runner-up teams by Shri Abid Iqbal Malik (JKAS) and District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal Mr. Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal.
Shri Mohammad Altaf (JKAS)was named the Man of the Match for his crucial contribution with the bat.

The SVEEP initiative, a flagship program of the Election Commission of India, seeks to engage citizens, particularly first-time voters, through sports, cultural events, and community outreach programs to ensure that every eligible voter understands the importance of their vote in shaping the democratic process.
