Alekhya Coondoo and Akhil Pilli are representing India at the 420 World Championship in Alicante, Spain from 21st to 29th July 2023. Alekhya Coondoo, skipper, is the flag bearer for team India. The host Real Club de Regatas organised the Worlds within 3 months as the scheduled event in Turkey was cancelled due to the earthquake.
Their Spanish coach Jose Ruiz Sanchez was the 2014 420 World Champion and champion at 4 major European Championships for this highly technical boat.
Jose Massapina, President 420 World Association and Miguel head of the 420 Association Spain warmly invited participants from all countries. Total of 64 women entries, 130 Open category mixed and men’s and 83 under 17 entries. The highest level of 420 sailors and coaches are present at this event.
