🎬 Inauguration of Cinemas of India Film Festival

The Cinemas of India Film Festival was inaugurated yesterday at the NFDC–National Film Archive of India, Pune, marking the beginning of a three-day celebration of the richness and diversity of Indian cinema.

Pune International Centre, in partnership with FIPRESCI-India and NFDC–NFAI, is presenting a thoughtfully curated selection of 10 acclaimed Indian films, bringing together diverse stories, perspectives and cinematic traditions from across the country.

The festival continues today and tomorrow, with screenings through the weekend.

At PIC, we believe in creating spaces that bring people together through ideas, culture and meaningful conversations—and cinema offers a powerful way to explore the many stories that shape India.

What will it take to build an India where longer lives are accompanied by dignity, security, purpose and participation?

On World Senior Citizens Day, PIC reflects on an important demographic transition already underway in India.

Through its emerging policy work, Towards an Age-Inclusive India 2050, PIC is exploring how India can prepare today for the India of 2050 — looking beyond healthcare and welfare to work, economic security, care, mobility, technology, infrastructure and participation.

Because ageing is not just about getting older. It is about how we build systems that remain responsive to people throughout their lives. Stay tuned as we share more updates on this initiative.

A memorable evening celebrating Lavani, its artists, and the cultural roots that connect us to our past.

‘Lavani Ke Rang’ brought an evening of music, stories and cultural memory to Pune International Centre.

Through the vibrant performances of traditional Sangeet Bari Lavani artists, the evening offered a glimpse into a rich folk tradition—its many colours, its artists, and the lived stories behind the form. The conversations and performances also invited us to think about what it means to preserve a cultural tradition while keeping it alive and relevant.

At PIC, we believe in creating spaces that bring diverse voices, traditions and ideas into conversation, helping us engage more deeply with the many facets of our cultural heritage.

Pune International Centre (PIC) warmly invites you to the “Cinemas of India” Film Festival, to be held from 21st to 23rd (Fri - Sun) August 2026 at the NFDC-National Film Archive of India, Pune.

PIC is delighted to partner with FIPRESCI-India (the India chapter of the International Federation of Film Critics) and National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) – NFAI to present a thoughtfully curated selection of 10 acclaimed Indian films that celebrate the richness and diversity of Indian cinema.

The festival opens on 21st August with the inauguration at 10:30 AM, followed by a screening of films.

Pune International Centre and the Centre for China Analysis and Strategy (CCAS) are pleased to announce that Prof. Kanti Prasad Bajpai, Visiting Professor at Ashoka University, and author of India Versus China: Why They Are Not Friends, will be a speaker at the China Conference 2026.

One of India’s leading scholars of international relations and strategic affairs, Prof. Bajpai has written extensively on India’s foreign policy, security, and the evolving dynamics of India-China relations. His insights will enrich discussions on the strategic, political, and geopolitical dimensions shaping the relationship between the two countries.

Pune International Centre and the Centre for China Analysis and Strategy (CCAS) are pleased to announce that Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Kaivalya Trivikram Parnaik, Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, will deliver the Inaugural Address at the China Conference 2026.

With his distinguished military career and deep understanding of India’s strategic and border dynamics, his address will set the stage for two days of insightful discussions on India-China relations, security, technology, trade and regional developments.

Where do our used batteries actually go? 🔋

From discarded phones to informal dismantling, battery waste often falls through the gaps between consumers, recyclers, local governments and the formal waste-management system.

PIC’s latest Working Paper, “Where Batteries Go to Die: A qualitative study of policy and governance gaps in Pune,” examines these gaps and asks an important question: Who is responsible for ensuring batteries enter a safe and effective recycling chain?
