It’s time to stop!
No, it’s not what you think. After having successfully hosted nine editions of the IAPAR International Theatre Festival, we feel a need to pause and reflect. For over a decade, a team of like minded individuals worked tirelessly, magically without any expectations sharing one common dream of bringing world theatre to our city.
Over the past nine years we’ve hosted artists and companies from more than thirty five countries, on a shoestring budget, with our friends and family helping us in cash and kind for what became a homegrown, humble celebration of the arts and the theatre. Through fights and disagreements, yet so much love, mutual respect and faith we grew each year and nurtured this festival into something that we’ve all been very proud to bring to you since 2016.
Hence, it was only apt to hold on for a bit. Pause and reflect on where we are - as a collective, as a community. We braved many social, financial challenges including a pandemic but never did we ever want to give up. For all the wonderful artists reaching out to us for this year’s edition, there won’t be any. We hope to bring to you our tenth edition in a new form, with a renewed rigour that excites us as well as the audiences. Thank you for your belief, your love and your trust in us, we wouldn’t have travelled this far without any of it.
