Studio Safdar is an independent, non-funded space for arts and activism.

Studio Safdar was established by India's pioneer street theatre group Jana Natya Manch in April 2012. In last two and a half years it has become an adda for theatre groups from Delhi and outside where they can rehearse, perform and conduct workshops. The space is dedicated to encourage engagements with community groups, to foster a culture of understanding and cooperation, aesthetic excellence and intellectual stimulation. It has established itself as an adda for theatre wallahs, a space to experiment fearlessly, a space for edgy, creative and even dissenting ideas. The space is run by the Studio Safdar Trust, and the Trustees are:

Shubha Mudgal (President), Moloyashree Hashmi (Managing Trustee), Joyoti Roy (Treasurer), Ram Rahman, Keval Arora, Surajit Sarkar, Praveen Vadhera and Sudhanva Deshpande (Executive Director, Studio Safdar).

As a Studio Safdar Library initiative, Nikhil Sharma for months leading up to Natak Utsav produced, wrote and directed this play with the Children of our library.

Within a span of 15 minutes, they led us into the mysterious realm of dreams, which delight us just as consumingly as they terrify us, where we may lose ourselves in dreary times, or even find ourselves when we are lost.

Directed by: Nikhil Sharma
Cast: Aariz, Aiza, Asad, Hiba, Tahreema, Srishti

This is the 6th edition of Shadipur Natak Utsav. Every year, we give a call for volunteers to help us run the festival.
There are two sets of volunteers. We make a skit and perform in the bylanes of Shadipur as a run-up to the festival. For this, we call Actor volunteers.
And program volunteers for the actual festival dates. Every year we get an overwhelming response. So many people want to join the festival.
These volunteers work tirelessly to make this festival happen; we can only offer them an honorarium and a certificate.
In return, they give us love, support and smiles on the faces of countless children.
We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Please keep coming like this every year. We will be waiting.
