Portugal comes to the Indie Habitat Film Festival with I Only Rest in the Storm, a powerful film by Pedro Pinho.

Set in a West African metropolis, the film follows Sergio, an environmental engineer working on a road project between the desert and the forest. As he navigates the expatriate world around him, he becomes entangled in a complex relationship with two locals — Diara and Gui — revealing deeper tensions of power, belonging, and identity.

Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard, the film offers a striking reflection on neo-colonial dynamics, intimacy, and the search for connection.

Presented by the Embassy of Portugal in India and Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre, New Delhi, as part of the Indie Habitat Film Festival.
