Introducing Riddimma Sampath, Head Chair of SOCHUM at DAIMUN 2024: Riddimma is the vibrant powerhouse you never knew you...
23/08/2024

Introducing Riddimma Sampath, Head Chair of SOCHUM at DAIMUN 2024:

Riddimma is the vibrant powerhouse you never knew you needed. Often described as a whirlwind of pink, Riddimma is an MUN prodigy, crushing debates and winning arguments with the ease of someone ordering their favourite meal – which, by the way, she’s probably thinking about right now.

Riddimma’s smile is her secret weapon – it’s contagious and can disarm even the most stubborn delegate. Don’t be fooled by that smile though, she’ll deliver the winning argument with a bright grin on her face. Fashionably early everywhere she goes, you can expect her to reach a minimum 2 hours before the decided time at any event. With adding bows to her robots and calling them “bow-bots” being her favourite pass-time, her intellect and knowledge about things you probably wouldn’t have even heard of (and infusing her own personality into them) will definitely fascinate you.

Now, a word of caution: her handwriting will make you question your eyesight and wonder whether it’s abstract art, and her jokes will make you question your sense of humour. Quite contrary to her handwriting though, this PCM and Economics enthusiast is also a jewellery designer whose creations will blow your mind. Imagine Chandler Bing’s humour, but with a touch of your dad’s best (worst) puns. This swiftie can randomly burst out singing Taylor Swift’s songs at any time. Get ready for a committee filled with intense debate, smiles, bad jokes, and a lot of fun.

With Riddimma as your Head Chair of SOCHUM, I can assure you it’ll be one of the most memorable MUNs you’ve ever been to!

Introducing Aanya Shah, Deputy President of SC at DAIMUN 2024:A raucous screech overhead, followed by an incredulous gas...
21/08/2024

Introducing Aanya Shah, Deputy President of SC at DAIMUN 2024:

A raucous screech overhead, followed by an incredulous gasp, and then a witchy cackle. Fear not, it’s not evil (though she will find your toil and trouble deserving if you cross her; she quite liked the witches from Macbeth). Stop engaging your fight-or-flight mode, and engage your senses instead.

Track down the smell of multiple cuisines, and act fast, as with superhuman speed, the scent will get fainter yet as food disappears. Or rather, try to hear for any exhausted sighs, stemming from a torrid love affair with Netflix, and famously non existent sleep schedule.

Follow those down the hall as they get louder until you start to detect an impassioned voice, signing up to do everything she can, despite 250000 things on her to-do list.

TUDUM, it’s Aanya Shah you’ve located.

If you need confirmation, you’ll smell toothpaste - sorry, apparently mint chocolate chip ice cream - and hear a faint echo of ‘I’m not funny?! More like my sense of humour is superior.’ (It’s not)

Loud as she may be, this positive enthusiasm is infectious and I can guarantee that despite whatever international crisis is taking place, you will find her smiling and saying, “Piastri is better than Norris, hands down!”

To win her over, you just need a few simple tricks:
To magically conjure food out of nowhere
To have a dangerously life-and-death obsession with F1
To adore and encourage (non violent) yelling in committee
Most importantly, to not criticise her indecipherable typos

Her dedication to everything she chooses to do (which is quite a lot of things) is unparalleled, so I can promise she will make sure delegates of the SC have a fabulous time at DAIMUN.

Introducing Hridank Garodia, Deputy Chair of DISEC at DAIMUN 2024:Want brownie points from your deputy chair of DISEC 20...

Introducing Hridank Garodia, Deputy Chair of DISEC at DAIMUN 2024:

Want brownie points from your deputy chair of DISEC 2024? Just strike up a conversation about the gym and golf and watch best delegate fall into your lap. Meet Hridank Garodia - that one seemingly confident guy who’s annoyingly good at everything he does.

Whatever you do, don’t try to argue with him on literally any topic, as Hridank is probably one of the fiercest debaters I’ve ever met.
Just accept it - you’re not winning against his impassioned rebuttals or coldly calculated yet surprisingly detailed arguments. That doesn’t mean you can’t party with him, however - he’ll have 10 hard party spots even before you finish the question. It’s not over yet - this man can whack the golf ball harder than your arguments - look no further if you want to become a pro in the sport. See what I mean by “annoyingly good at everything he does?”

More commonly known by his surname (Garodia) than first name, there are two things Hridank is the most experienced in - winning awards in any DISEC committee and sliding into girls’ DMs. Don’t let his warm and happy go lucky demeanour mislead you - a true maestro of the DISEC committee, this man can dismember your resolution like his second nature - so make sure that you achieve world peace and disarmament in a manner acceptable to him. The real fun, however, lies in the MOE - don’t be afraid to do whatever you want - all is valid in Hridank’s party world.

Seriously though, Hridank is genuinely one of the most hard working people I ever know. A maths and MUN genius (how is that even possible?), I’m sure that, as Deputy Chair of DISEC at DAIMUN 2024, he will personally ensure that you achieve one of the best MUN experiences possible

Introducing Ayaana Parekh, President of the General Assembly at DAIMUN 2024:Your phone buzzes at 2 A.M. It’s a new song ...
07/08/2024

Introducing Ayaana Parekh, President of the General Assembly at DAIMUN 2024:

Your phone buzzes at 2 A.M. It’s a new song recommendation, or a reel about Amsterdam’s stroop waffles — it’s Ayaana Parekh.

Ayaana, or otherwise known to be “too nice” (even though she will never admit it), is definitely someone who stands out, despite being one of the shortest in our grade. Her unique music taste is something I admire - pro trip: mention “When Chai Meets Toast” or “Wave to Earth” to get her interested.

At first she may appear quite soft-spoken and quiet, but don’t let this facade fool you, get close enough and you will find her yapping about the most bizarre and uncomfortable topics - but undoubtedly matching your energy, always. Her arguing skills are another thing that amazed me. If she believes in something she’ll chew your brains out till you concede, and then probably say sorry 5 times because, well, she’s too nice (it’s annoying).

If you want to get on her good side, promise her that you will go to Hague and eat those avocado fries at Hoender en Hop with her - she’s still mad that we didn’t get it, and she will probably ignore her stomach problems AGAIN to try it out anyway. Also, don’t forget to blast Taylor Swift in the random-est of places - be it a crowded 7 am tram or a random street in the middle of Hague at 9 pm - she will always sing (more scream) with you. And well, the bad side? Does she have one? Surprisingly, yes. Spoil the NYT games for her: Wordle, Connections, Strands - you name it - and Ayaana will not be as nice anymore. She has to keep her streak going!

On a more serious note, she is definitely a skilled debater and one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, embodying the spirit of leadership and warmth, making her the perfect President of the General Assembly.
