Dear AIPNBOA Members
Today, we had the privilege of welcoming Shri Ashok Chandra, our new Managing Director & CEO, at his office.
Along with my Chairman, President, Working President, and Deputy General Secretary from HO, I had the honor of presenting him with a Shawl & flower bouquet as a mark of our respect and best wishes.
Following this, I had an extensive two-hour one to one personal interaction with him, during which we engaged in a thorough discussion covering various crucial aspects.
I flagged off various issues which needs corrective steps for creating better understanding between employees at field & Admin office. Need of policy correction to create level playing field on career progression, various issues pertaining to Technical officers. Focus on Technology upgradations for seamless compliance work without multi level human intervention to make day to day work easy and time. saving, Workshop for Disciplinary authorities required as officers kept under suspension for months & years without issuing charge sheet. I also flagged many other issues like calling officers to work on holiday like 8th Feb. He strongly emphasized that he is against calling officers on holidays and even he instructed for holding Housing Expo only on 7th but with suggestions received from ZMs that prospective customers may not come on a working day and that is why it is for 2 days but he is not in favour of not only working on holiday but against management sending any messages to officers on holidays.
I took up the issue of meagre APAR marks to officers on field. He explained bringing modifications where Reviewing & Accepting authority would have leverage of only on 5 marks out of 100. Also raised our letter to him on promotion from Sc-IV to V issue, he assured to look into this specific case and again discuss the matter with me. He simultaneously assured that many of our suggestions on promotion policy
would be implemented for next process.
He also assured that he will rationalize the VCs and it should not be held during customer hours.
We spoke on a wide range of other issues over 2 hours which obviously can’t be covered in a message.
We invited him to grace the General Body meeting of our HO unit on 16th Feb at Delhi which he agreed to attend.
Overall, His receptiveness to our perspectives and concerns signals that our bank is now under the leadership of someone who values constructive discussions for the betterment of the institution.
We are confident that under the able leadership of our MD & CEO, Shri Ashok Chandra, PNB will scale new heights in the near future.
Regards, Dilip Saha
