The Kas Plateau Reserved Forest, also known as the Kaas Pathar, is a plateau situated 25 kilometres west from Satara city in Maharashtra, India. It falls under the Sahyadri Sub Cluster of the Western Ghats, and it became a part of a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2012.

Kaas plateau is a plateau located near Satara. It is situated high hill plateaus and grasslands turns into a 'valley of flowers' during monsoon season, particularly from August to early October. Kaas Plateau has more than 150 or more types of flowers, shrubs and grasses. The orchids bloom here for a period of 3–4 weeks during this season. Kaas plateau is a World Natural Heritage site, part of the Sahyadri Sub-cluster.[4][5][6] To control possible damage by tourists, the number of visitors to the plateau has been restricted to 3,000 per day.[4][7] In September, some of the most common flowering plants are Eriocaulon spp., Utricularia spp., Pogostemon deccanensis, Senecio grahamii, Impatiens lawii and Dipcadi montanum.

The plateau experiences a natural cycle of extreme conditions, with wet water-logged cool monsoons, very dry hot summer (45 °C) and dry winter (5 °C). The soil is acidic only a thin layer on top of laterite rock underneath. Extreme seasonality influences the ecology of the site.

प्रसिद्ध अभिनेते रवींद्र महाजनी यांचा मृत्यू; बंद खोलीत आढळला मृतदेह

मुंबईचा फौजदार, देऊळ बंद, पानीपत आदी सिनेमातील अभिनयाने सिनेरसिकांच्या हृदयावर अधिराज्य गाजविणारे अभिनेते, देखणा आणि रुबाबदार नट, रवींद्र महाजनी यांचं निधन झालं आहे.
पुणे : मुंबईचा फौजदार, देऊळ बंद, पानीपत आदी सिनेमातील अभिनयाने सिनेरसिकांच्या हृदयावर अधिराज्य गाजविणारे अभिनेते, देखणा आणि रुबाबदार नट, रवींद्र महाजनी यांचं निधन झालं आहे. ते 77 वर्षाचे होते. तळेगाव दाभाडे येथील बंद खोलीत त्यांचा मृतदेह आढळला. त्यांच्या निधनामुळे मराठी सिनेसृष्टीवर शोककळा पसरली आहे. आपल्या रुबाबदार व्यक्तीमत्त्वाने मराठी सिनेसृष्टी गाजवणारा कलावंत गमावल्याची भावना मराठी सिनेसृष्टीतून व्यक्त होत आहे.
रवींद्र महाजनी यांना गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून दम्याचा त्रास जाणवत होता. मावळमधील वातावरण मानवल्यामुळे ते गेल्या सात ते आठ महिन्यांपासून मावळमध्ये राहायला आले होते. तळेगांव एमआयडीसी परिसरातील आंबी गावात असलेल्या एका सोसायटीतील फ्लॅटमध्ये ते भाड्याने राहत होते. फ्लॅटमध्ये ते एकटेच राहत होते. त्यांच्या फ्लॅटमधून शुक्रवारी रात्रीच्या सुमारास दुर्गंधी येऊ लागल्याने सोसायटीतील नागरिकांना संशय आला. त्यामुळे त्यांनी तात्काळ पोलिसांशी संपर्क साधला. पोलिसांनीही तात्काळ घटनास्थळी येऊन फ्लॅट उघडण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. पण आतून कोणताच प्रतिसाद न आल्याने अखेर फ्लॅटचा दरवाजा तोडून पोलीस आत गेले.

मराठी सिनेसृष्टीतील रुबाबदार, देखणा नट म्हणून रवींद्र महाजनी यांची ओळख होती. त्यांनी आपल्या रुबाबदार व्यक्तीमत्त्वाच्या जोरावर एककाळ गाजवला. 1975 ते 1990 या काळात यांनी मराठी सिनेसृष्टी गाजवून सोडली. त्यांनी केलेले सिनेमेही चांगलेच गाजले. मुंबईचा फौजदार, देवता, झुंज, आराम हराम आहे. लक्ष्मी, लक्ष्मीची पावलं, गोंधळात गोंधळ आदी सिनेमे चांगलेच गाजले. तर बेलभंडार आणि अपराध मीच केला ही त्यांची नाटकेही गाजली. त्यांनी सत्तेसाठी काहीही या सिनेमाच्या माध्यमातून दिग्दर्शनात पाऊल टाकलं होतं. 2015नंतरही त्यांनी सिनेमात काम करणं सुरूच ठेवलं होतं. सेकंड इनिंगमध्ये त्यांनी काय राव तुम्ही, कॅरी ऑन मराठा, देऊळबंद आणि पानीपत आदी सिनेमातून चरित्र नायकाच्या भूमिका साकारल्या.

रवींद्र महाजनी यांचा जन्म बेळगावचा. प्रसिद्ध पत्रकार ह. रा. महाजनी हे त्यांचे वडील. ह. रा. महाजनी हे लोकसत्तेचे संपादक होते. मात्र, वडिलांच्या पावलावर पाऊल न ठेवता रवींद्र महाजनी यांनी अभिनय क्षेत्रात करिअर करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. रवींद्र महाजनी यांनी बीएसाठी खालसा महाविद्यालयात प्रवेश घेतला. त्यावेळी त्यांच्या महाविद्यालयात रॉबिन भट्ट, रमेश तलवार, अवतार गिल, शेखर कपूर अशी मंडळी होती. सगळ्यांनाच अभिनयाची आणि चित्रपटांची अत्यंत आवड. शिक्षण पूर्ण करून चित्रपटात जायचे, असे सगळ्यांनी तेव्हाच ठरवून टाकले होते.

आजच्या काळातही मराठीत ऐतिहासीक सिनेमे बनवणं ही महाअवघड गोष्ट. कधी बजेटचं गणित जुळवणं, तर कधी ऐतिहासीक सेट उभारणं ....

मराठी भाषा दिवस (जागतिक मराठी भाषा दिवस, मराठी भाषा दिन ) हा जगभरातील मराठी भाषकांकडून दर वर्षी २७ फेब्रुवारीला साजरा केला जातो.. मराठी कवी विष्णू वामन शिरवाडकर ऊर्फ कुसुमाग्रज यांच्या जन्मदिवसाच्या निमित्ताने हा दिवस ‘मराठी भाषा दिवस’ म्हणून पाळण्याची प्रथा सुरू झाली. जागतिक मराठी अकादमीने या कामी पुढाकार घेतला. भाषेला अभिजात भाषेचा दर्जा मिळावा,हि समस्त मराठीजनाची मागणी आहे। इये मऱ्हाटिचीया नगरी ब्रह्म विद्येचा सुकाळू करी,अशा शब्दांतून श्री ज्ञानदेवानी मराठीचा उल्लेख करता,करता ब्रम्हविध्या म्हंटले आहे,शब्दब्रह्मही म्हंटले आहे।याची यथार्थता आज मराठी भाषा गौरव दिनी प्रकर्षाने पटते।अमृतातेही पैजासी जिंकणाऱ्या या माय मराठीचा मला सार्थ अभिमान वाटतो. हा दिन नाशिकच्या कवी कुसुमाग्रजांचा वाढदिवस आहे. त्यांचा हा जन्म दिन मराठी भाषा दिन पाळला जातो.
