District-Level Inter-Constituency Football Tournament for Mangan District Concludes

Mangan, January 5 : The District-Level Inter-Constituency (Men) Football Tournament and Rural Sports–II 2026 for Mangan District concluded today at the Mangan Public Ground.
The tournament was organised by Sports & Youth Affairs Department Mangan as a part of the 71st Maghe Sankranti Celebration 2025–26.

The much-anticipated district final was played between 31-Lachen–Mangan Assembly Constituency and 30-Dzongu Assembly Constituency. The match witnessed intense competition and high sporting spirit from both sides. Dzongu Assembly Constituency emerged victorious by a narrow margin of one goal, clinching the district title.

With this win, Dzongu Assembly Constituency will now proceed to Jorethang to represent Mangan District in the quarter-finals of the Inter-Constituency Football Tournament on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti Festival.

The final match was graced by noted social worker Mr Pawluse Tamang as the chief guest. He was joined by Joint Director (HQ) Mr Sonam Palzor Lepcha, along with officials and staff of the Sports & Youth Affairs Department and members of the North District Football Association.

Mangan holds Preliminary Round of District-Level Inter-Constituency Football Tournament.

Mangan, January 4th: The District-Level Inter-Constituency (Men) Football Tournament and Rural Sports–II 2026, organised as a part of the 71st Maghe Sankranti Celebration 2025–26, was held today at Mangan Public Ground. The event was organised by Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Mangan District.

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation and spirited competition among teams representing various constituencies of the district.

In the first match, 31-Lachen Mangan Assembly Constituency registered a commanding victory over 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency with a scoreline of 4–0.
The second match saw a closely contested encounter, where 30- Dzongu Assembly Constituency edged past 29- Kabi Lungchok Assembly Constituency with a 3–2 win.

The district final, scheduled for tomorrow, will be played between 31- Lachen–Mangan and 30- Dzongu Assembly Constituency. The winning team will advance to Jorethang to compete in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The event was graced by the presence of OSD to Kabi Lungchok Constituency, Mr Lazong Bhutia, Deputy Director, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Mr Pintso Bhutia, along with officials and staff of Sports & Youth Affairs Department, and other dignitaries.

Mangan's District Level Youth Festival Celebrates Talent, Culture and Youth Leadership

Mangan, November 28 : A District Level Youth Festival was organised today at PM SHRI Mangan Senior Secondary School by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Mangan District in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The programme aimed to provide a dynamic platform for young people to express ideas, creativity and cultural identity while fostering leadership and civic awareness.

The event was graced by President, Ringhim Nampatam GPU, Mr Sherap Bhutia, as the chief guest.

The festival featured active participation from PM SHRI Mangan Senior Secondary School, Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Phodong. A variety of competitions were conducted during the event, including folk group dance, folk group song, painting competition, declamation, poetry writing and story writing. The painting competition was based on the themes Nasha Mukt and Youth for a Healthy Lifestyle, while the declamation competition focused on the Emergency period and violation of the Constitution of India and safeguarding democracy and democratic values.

The programme was aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat, reflecting the guiding principles of Panch Pran and the cultural trajectory envisioned through the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue. Through these cultural and literary engagements, students were encouraged to connect national ideals with local expressions of creativity and responsibility.

Addressing the gathering, Joint Director, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Ms Janim Lepcha collectively highlighted the festival as a meaningful platform for nurturing local talent and encouraging youth expression. She underscored the importance of such events in giving visibility to young voices, promoting creativity and strengthening awareness on social, cultural and democratic values.

The Chief Guest, Mr Sherap Bhutia congratulated all participants for their enthusiasm and vibrant participation. He spoke about sports as an important avenue for career development, noting its role in building physical fitness, discipline, confidence and a balanced outlook among young people. He also gently urged students to remain mindful in their choices, stay true to their goals and maintain resilience while navigating challenges during their formative years.

The festival concluded on an inspiring note, celebrating youth potential, cultural harmony and the collective aspiration towards a healthy, democratic and developed India.

School Games 2025 - Mangan holds District Level Selection Trial

Mangan, October 17th : Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Mangan District, successfully conducted the district level selection trial of School Games 2025 for boys and girls of under-16 age category for schools under Mangan District.

The games was graced by District Collector Mangan Mr Anant Jain as the chief guest. The event was organised under the guidance and supervision of Joint Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Ms Janim Lepcha, teachers, coaches, athletes, and staff from Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

Selection for the district-level was held at the Mangan Public Ground and the adjoining Indoor Sports Complex, where boys and girls shortlisted from the earlier block-level rounds participated.

The district level School Games 2025 featured sports categories such as, athletics, archery, kabaddi, kho-kho, table tennis and taekwondo.

The selected athletes will go on to participate in the State-Level School Games 2025.
