We have been successfully organizing Shree Ganesh Mahotsav on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi since 2006. Lord Ganesha is widley worshipped as God of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. This festival starts with the insatllation of Lord Ganesha statue and ends with the visarjan. Historically, Ganesha Chaturthi celebration were initiated in Maharashtra by Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a great Mar
atha ruler, to promote culture and nationalism. After that this festival became a private family celebration again till its revivals by Indian Freedom Fighter & social reformer Lokmanya Tilak. Lokmanya Tilak transformed the annual domestic festival into a large, well-organized public event. Under Tilak's encouragement, the festival facilitated community participation and involvement in the form of intellectual discourses, poetry recitals, performances of plays, musical concerts, and folk dances. It served as a meeting ground for people of all castes and communities in times when, in order to exercise control over the population, the British discouraged social and political gatherings. The sprit behind holding this Ganesha utsav is to make the society aware about Lord Ganesha and to develop a strong bonding within society at grassroots level, by encouraging good social and religious behavior. This year over a period of ten days we expect approx. 3-4 lac visitors from Lucknow and nearby upountry areas. The format of event will be :
1.Celebtration on all 10 days upto midnight.
2.Live Performance by various artist along with Live Band (Bhajan Sandya)
3.Cultrual troops from various Part of country perform various Arts/Plays
4.Chappan Bhog Ceremony
5.Radha Krishna Maharasa
6.Ganesh Visarjan on the bank of river Gomti on the left.
