Pep Guardiola on Mohamed Salah being disrespected because he’s not European:
“Hmm I don’t like to say it in a very simple way like this, but sometimes, yes, perception can be different. In football, the narrative is very strong where you come from, where you play, these things can influence how people talk about you.
Salah, what he has done in the Premier League with Liverpool FC it is exceptional. Numbers, consistency, big moments every season, always there.
But sometimes, players from certain countries, they need to do even more to receive the same recognition as others.
This is not only about football, it happens in many areas. For me, the most important thing is how his opponents see him.
And I can tell you when you prepare to face Salah, you feel it. You know he can punish you in one action, one transition, one mistake.
So if people outside don’t always give him the same respect, inside the game believe me, he has it.
And in the end, that is what really matters.”
