Greetings everyone,
Hope you are doing well. We are glad to announce that Shooting Society is conducting a shooting workshop in which we will visit a nearby shooting range where you will be able to have first hand shooting experience by getting a chance to learn the sport from the experts and experience the sports by handling and firing the Rifle or pistol yourself. The fees for the workshop is Rs 225/- and there are limited number of slots. The workshop will be conducted on 13/03/2022 in different slots between 9 am to 2 pm.

Greetings everyone!
Shooting Society presents Shooting Legends series.

Mr. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is a former shooting athelete who participated in double trap shooting events. He bagged a silver medal in the mens double trap event at 2004 summer Olympics. This also was India's first ever individual silver at the olympic games.
Mr Rathore has won 25 international medals at various championships which include a gold medal at 2002 commonwealth games along with a new commonwealth games record which still stands today; a team gold at 2002 CWGs, two golds at world shooting championship in 2004 and 2006; a gold at 2006 CWGs. He served as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Government of India till May 2019.

Here are different types of Rifle Focused Shooting Events:

Metallic Silhouette Shooting: Metallic silhouette shooting involves shooting at steel targets representing game animals at varying distances, seeking to knock the metal target over. Metallic silhouette is shot with large bore rifles fired freehand without support out to 500 meters. The targets used are rams, turkeys, pigs, and chickens, which are cut to different scales and set at certain distances from the shooter depending on the specific discipline.

Benchrest Shooting: Benchrest shooting is a shooting sport discipline in which high-precision rifles are rested on a table or bench — rather than being carried in the shooter's hands — while shooting at paper or steel targets. The goal of the original benchrest shooting is to shoot 5 or 10 bullets into the smallest group possible.

Here are different types of Pistol shooting competitions:

Cowboy Action Shooting: CAS is a type of multigun match utilizing a combination of handgun(s), rifle, and/or shotgun in a variety of "Old West-themed" courses of fire for time and accuracy.

Bullseye Shooting: Bullseye shooting is a category of shooting sport disciplines where the objective is to score points with carefully placed precision fire by hitting a target as close to its center as possible

IDPA Shooting Events: Shooting sport based on defensive pistol techniques, using equipment including full-charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defense scenarios

Hope you are doing well. Shooting society IITK is here with an introduction to different types of competition in shotgun shooting.
Here are different types of shotgun shooting competitions:

“Trap shooting” divided into Trap and Double Trap in which shooters move through 5 shooting locations which are set in a straight line and shoot clays which are launched from 15 m.

"Sporting clay shooting" involving shooting a firearm at special flying targets known as clay pigeons, or clay targets.

"S***t shooting” in which shooters move around 8 shooting locations which are set in a semicircle and shoot clays launched from right and left directions

Here are different types of Shooting Competitions:

• Shotgun :
There are three general categories
for most competitive shotgun
shooting events. All three involve
throwing clay targets, but it is how
they are thrown that differentiates
these shooting events. Those are:
-- S***t shooting
-- Trap shooting
-- Sporting clay shooting

• Pistol :
--Cowboy action shooting — the
guns used are from the era of the
American cowboy.
--Bullseye shooting — While this can
occur with the use of rifles, it is
mostly a long-distance event for
pistol shooters.
--International Defensive Pistol
Association (IDPA) shooting
events — This shooting
competition focuses on
self-defense type shooting
situations.

• Rifle-focused :
-- Silhouette shooting — This is a
rifle event and primarily uses
small gauge rifles such as .22s.
--Bench rest shooting — The rifle
sits on a front and rear rest and
the rest sits on a table, thus the
name. Shooters take aim at paper
targets.

Shooting is a global sport with athletes from around 100 countries typically participating at the Games.
Shooting sports is a collective group of competitive and recreational sporting activities involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed.
Shooting at a mark as a test of skill began with archery, long before the advent of fi****ms (c. 1300). Fi****ms were first used in warfare and later in sport shooting.
The earliest recorded shooting match is one held in Bavaria, German in 1477; the shooters, probably using matchlocks, competed at 200 metres (220 yards)
French pistol champion and founder of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin, participated in many of these early competitions.

In the Olympic Games, the shooting sport has always enjoyed the distinction of awarding the first medals of the Games. Internationally, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has oversight of all Olympic shooting events worldwide
