Orienteering Training Camp Success
Today marked a significant achievement for the Orienteering Club Jhansi as the Dhyan Chand Foundation successfully conducted a rigorous training camp at the Dhyan Chand Heroes Ground. With a participation of 40+ enthusiastic members, the camp was meticulously designed to enhance skills crucial for orienteering—an activity blending navigation, map reading, and physical endurance.
The participants were put through a series of challenging exercises that tested their proficiency in various facets of orienteering:
Map Reading and Terrain Identification Exercises: Participants honed their ability to interpret maps and identify terrain features, crucial for navigating unfamiliar landscapes efficiently.
Finding Control Points with Description Boxes: An exercise where participants relied solely on textual descriptions to locate control points.
Quiz on Orienteering Map Symbols: A theoretical and practical test that assessed participants' knowledge of orienteering map symbols, followed by their practical application on the ground.
Special recognition is due to Mr. Gaurav Dhyan Chand for his exemplary leadership and ex*****on of the training exercises. His guidance and expertise were instrumental in challenging and guiding participants towards improvement.
Furthermore, heartfelt thanks are extended to the dedicated individuals who not only participated enthusiastically but also officiated to ensure the smooth conduct of the camp. Jyoti Singh, Chanda Singh, Anil Thakur, Majid Ali, and Vicky contributed significantly to the success of the event through their active involvement.
Orienteering, as a sport, demands not only physical prowess but also sharp mental acuity and strategic thinking. The participants of the training camp exhibited these qualities admirably, underscoring their commitment to mastering the art of orienteering.
