It was founded on 30th May 2008 by Dr. Pompi Paul, a senior disciple of Guru Poushali Mukherjee. Now, it has been fourteen years Kalpodip is working hard to promote and encourage Indian Classical Dance and Music in North Bengal. The students of Kalpodip are preparing themselves to become good dancer, performer, as well as good teacher under Dr. Pompi's guidance. Kalpodip organizes different workshops like Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Yoga and Contemporary Dance so that the students can learn different dance techniques and dance items intensively. Since 2012 Kalpodip is organizing a classical Dance Music Festival called ‘Kalpodip Utsav’ in Jalpaiguri. From the year 2015 the the festival has been sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The performing troupe of Kalpodip has been performing in different programs and festivals like International Odissi Dance Festival 2018 at Bhubaneswar, Girnar Mahotsav 2017 at Junagar Gujarat, Udayshankar Dance Festival 2016 at Kolkata, India International Dance Festival 2016 at Hyderabad, Naveen Kalakar Festival 2015 at Bhubaneswar, 5th Odissi International 2014 at Bhubaneswar, Dooars Festival at Alipur Duar, Uttar Banga Festival, Program Organized By Jalpaiguri Doordarshan at jalpaiguri etc. Kalpodip is deeply committed to the propagation of Odissi as a Dance and Art form in Northeastern India.
